Or Jiangshi, or whatever.
Well, this is what came of a character creation meme I tried on my DeviantArt a little while ago. It was a fun challenge, and I hope you like the (highly unorthodox) character!

"In the aftermath of a vicious plague, the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean governments colluded against international law to put forth what they called Project Tag. Using ancient, forbidden magic, they offered to raise dead relatives, children, and loved ones as immortal Jiangshi, hopping vampires, in exchange for hefty fees. These Jiangshi were immune to decay, and could function much as they could in life, with one major catch: the raised vampires required life essence to function. Small animals were provided to families housing a Jiangshi so that it would not resort to the consumption of human lives, but demand for lives soon became too demanding, and Project Tag was discontinued, with no further Jiangshi being raised within one month of its start date.
Though they were by no means invalid or incapable, most Jiangshi remained with their families due to fear of societal and international stigmas against them. Only a brave few set out to see the world and clear the bad name their race had historically garnered. Kevin Zhiang from Guangzho, for example, has made a new home in the American city of Dystopolis, where he studies International Relations while living in the care of fellow vampire Rosalyn Stoker. Though shy, Kevin is committed to showing the world that the Jiangshi race are not monsters, and can be functioning members of society. He is mostly responsible with his consumption of life essences too. That said, sometimes..."

Misc. Kevin info:
- Sexuality: Asexual (Mostly. He likes cuddling and stuff, but he's neutral toward anything further.)
- Birthday: October 28th
- Likes: Desserts, video games, scaring people (usually by subjecting them to horror movies), cats, dancing in elevators, not feeling alienated or feared by the world around him.
- Dislikes: Spicy food, big dogs, people touching his tag (it's very sensitive)

Kevin is (c) Me

If only the poor boy could eat I would feed him so much

Oh, he can eat. In this canon, Jiangshi bodies function properly as long as no part of them is seriously damaged~

Dystopolis seems like a setting Emi would really fit well in (ie a supernatural being struggling with the misconceptions and prejudices of mortals)

Yeah, despite the variety of races in the city, the undead are still regarded with a ton of prejudice!
