The goo that Serenity wears is called Trinity. Its original form is a big snake which can be worn like a battle suit alive still and actively applied overlaying the skin of Serenity being like a full suit which can fight together with her.
This snake can strike at any time from her body and they share the same mind together being in sync throughout combat and knowing each other's thoughts.

Well she looks niceish. Probably wouldn't change how one would look at her unless it changed her personality, like one hero with a goo suit. But other than that I am sure friends are always safe around her^^.
