Not every dimension that Martel finds himself in is particularly accommodating to his powers or need to continue moving from place to place. As long as they're magic though, he can usually get into a certain amount of trouble before he finds his way to the next adventure. This is one of those minor bumps on his many roads that he would describe as mundane and boring, but that some of you might find interesting.

A word of caution, this is a looong one. Normally I would have split this up and posted it in chunks, but...I didn't feel like it. Sue me.

Still, it has a lot of different elements, including some things I don't actually write very often; male prey, gender bending, even some mildly hard vore, though I won't tag that because it's pretty brief.

Anyway, if you've got an hour or so to spend on this read, I do hope you enjoy my mad ramblings. If not, no hard feelings, maybe I'll write something closer to your tastes in the future.

The further I read into this, the more I regretted not just going to bed. Fortunately for me, I have a notably poor memory, so maybe when I wake back up later this afternoon I'll have forgotten reading it. This was depressing. Sad days.

Depression aside, don't feel discouraged from putting more stuff out like this if in you're in the mood for soul crushing. I'll still likely read it. I just wont be so happy-happy-bubbly-wubbly afterwards. Bedtime, night-night.

Depressing? How so?

Well what happened to Gabriel. He wasn't a bad guy, he was just particularly dimwitted and stupid. A punishment that Martel seemed highly opinionated on and thus it could cause some distress with readers. Up until now, many readers thought Martel to be an aloof but wise good guy, however this was proven to be clearly false, he's more like chaotic neutral. Not a bad guy, but he's out for his own machinations and his immortality has jaded him to others.

Now while that's fine and dandy for me, because I enjoy reading this and I don't suffer bouts of depression just by reading stories, I do think that that's what Graywolf18's issue was. He couldn't sympathise with the protagonist, thus Martel's cruel actions seemed unnecessarily so.

Ah. That does make sense.

Martel was being unreasonably cruel, mostly because he gets testy when he can't use his full power. His 'alignmemt', to use that spectrum, tends to shift between dimensions a little. For the most part, he would sit around the chaotic good range, being generally selfish, but with an eye on helping others where he can. Also, when he gets angry, he tends to go too far.

well the important thing to note is that you can't please your entire audience lol.
