Bernard's a sweetheart, but beneath his friendly demeanor there is a constant, intense craving for meat... sapient meat, in particular. It's just part of being a werewolf.

Fortunately, he's found there are a fair number of people willing to help him out with that. He doesn't even need to digest them to be satisfied; the fullness is enough to satisfy his appetite for a while, and after enough time has passed he's content to let his willing meals leave his body. Of course, not everyone has wanted that... more than a few have opted to instead become part of him and make the purple wolf even bigger. He wasn't always the big daddy wolf we know today.
