Did I forget to mention that the Barkeep/Tavern Owner was sitting down the entire time? he was sitting down the entire time. HE IS HUGE!
As for the confusing "they, them" pronoun stuff or whatever, I actually write without actually thinking about the characters I'm introducing. He is male, he is freshly created.. and in terms of background.. he used to be some kind of Knight/Guard captain, but he received a serious injury during a challenge and had to completely retire. He is a type of Ogre, although I am unsure which one right now. I might make him related to a character I've RPed before.
And in terms of ideas for the picture, I was actually given some good ideas by people I asked.. but they were a bit troublesome for me to draw so I just went with a pic of muscleman.

"A simple courier run"
A group of researchers have set themselves up in some ruins of which the full trip there and back would take nearly two days from the town you are in on foot. They seem to be in constant need for supplies, but it seems like none of the locals are too excited to take up this mantle. However, apparently they have something to do with the earring you found clipped to that Ravenous wolf's ear, so it might be worth checking it out. You should meet up with the mechanic who lives in the town to see what this is about.
"The sword's Trial I"
There's a nearby ruin called a dungeon where you can undertake something called a Trial in order to upgrade the Old One's sword in a meaningful way, it's likely to be fairly difficult and seeing as you have no idea what will happen, it is also going to be fairly hard to prepare for this as well. Strangely, you feel as though you won't be able to bring anyone along for this one.
"Thy dear Lunatics"
It seems as though there is a problem with the nearby Fairy village that is bad enough to send a small group to look for help. The problem is getting there seeing as the forest is enchanted to purposefully get people lost through illusions and trickery and is filled with dangers such as feral fairies. Perhaps if I walk around town enough, I'll bump into the member of the group looking for a particular person to help out. You feel as though you don't want to run into them at night, however.
"Bandit curiosity"
About a month ago, some bandits appeared in the local area and have been kidnapping anyone that hasn't drawn blood from one of their group. But for some reason they haven't killed, tarnished or sold off as merchandise but instead have simply been holding them hostage in order to trade with the town. It's doubtful that the town would stop negotiations, so there isn't really a time limit. You feel as though killing any bandits, or carrying around a "Hunt x amount of Bandits" bounty from the local Adventurer guild would be a terrible idea.

We should probably take the bandit job, but if these people are all so willing to band up why haven't they done it already? Did we really make that big of an impression on them? Go us!
Anyway, head back to the kobold inn before it gets any later.

The idea is that they can't, most mercenaries and typical adventurers can't actually pull off "the helpless citizen" look. And if the banded together to hunt the bandits in their entirety, the hostages wouldn't exactly be in the best condition by the time they finally made it to the encampment to rescue them (should they find it).
And yes, by that logic, they can't exactly band together to rescue Lyra if she can't get out on her own. For the most part, they were just trying to encourage her because that wolf (despite essentially being a regular wolf with tweaked stats) was actually very dangerous and she did actually do something pretty impressive in the tutorial.
Of course, pretty much anyone in that tavern is way stronger than Lyra is.. and a fair few of them have access to magic. Think of it like encouraging a promising newbie.

I really need to think before I type.

Go to the inn, get a room and see if any of the kobolds would be interested in cuddling for the night.
As for the job, I think we should pursue the courier job. First thing tomorrow check the tavern for the person the barkeeper had mentioned that may be able to help with it, if they're not present we could ask the barkeep or anyone else familiar with this person to send them to the mechanic to meet with us if they see them, then head to the mechanic.

The idea is that you'd meet with the mechanic first, who then tells you to meet up with this person.
Of course I can't control the order, and it doesn't really matter.

I feel some fighting experience and maybe another level might be nice before a bandit job. I'm of the mind to check the courier job out first since it sounds simple enough. We should head back to the Inn and go to sleep. Cuddles with Kobolds should be requested. Then find the mechanic, discuss the job, pick up the assistant and head out.
Jerk face guard has been added to "the list". :(

What if Jerk face guard gave out free kittens?
Posted by Graywolf18 6 years ago Report
Then we happily adopt the kittens and raise them to be assassins to end the reign of Jerk-face the guard.

Well now, Lyra's made quite the impression on the tavern, go us! Also, we may have some people to back us up on taking care of that wolf in case that other jerk tries to take credit for it. I'd err on the side of caution at this point, and head back to the kobold inn: being out at night in general seems quite dangerous. In the morning, we ought to head back to the tavern and look for the lady the barkeep told us about, and hopefully enlist her help with the courier job. Another priority for us right now should be training and learning how to better defend ourselves. I wonder if any of the mercenaries from the tavern would be willing to train us?

The idea with the Courier job is that you will automatically be paired up with the assistant unless you specifically decide not to.. so there's not much of a point in meeting her first to convince her to go. It is literally her job. :V
I'm explaining this since the information is out in the open now, however doing it backwards will mostly just annoy me a bit since it'll make it a bit awkward to write the start of it. I won't actually stop people from this.

Ah. Yeah, that'd be a bit redundant...

rest in tavern see if kolb cuddle and then see what happens tomorrow morning
Posted by JScofi 6 years ago Report
sunset, time to go to the inn, and give kobolds head pats. I still want to spend some time in the training grounds tomorrow to at least try out our new gear, see if maybe we can get someone to show us how to parry with our shield. Unless the training grounds are part of the adventurer's guild.
Posted by AwokenedWispKP 6 years ago Report
The training grounds were actually originally created for the guards, however later it became more of a school where sometimes a vet might show up and teach someone.
Alternatively, there is a Magic related "school" in this town that will give one free spell via tome if you have the aptitude.. but people decided Lyra shouldn't have magic. :V

I can just see it now, we approach the training ground, excited and nervous, and the shark guard offers to 'teach us a few things'.
Posted by Kartomic 6 years ago Report
And he would try something like that, the jerk, D:

I'd say talk with the mechanic first to get some details on the job and such, then go back to the inn after to get some rest.

Go to tarven after chatting to anyone of interest in the tavern.
