To all the largely self-inflicted and universally unmalicious distractions that have delayed this chapter, I offer a hearty "Suck it"

Hot Damn, does it feel good to be posting unequivocally new material. I'm a married man now, which means I have a wife telling me to go to bed instead of writing a longer story description. To be brief:
-I've been serious about getting back into writing for a while
-finally trying to make good on that
-have limited supply of nearly-ready-to-publish stuff; going to work on expanding it
-I reserve the right to post on my own random-ass schedule; after all, I do this for fun

Please let me know what you think; as noted in the disclaimer, I actually tried to insert some personal conflict and drama into this one. Did it work, or is it too soap opera-ey?
Umbra is fun to write, in a sadistic, psychotic kinda way.
For those who don't give a crap about the non-vore stuff, fear not. The next segment (or at least the part I think I'll most likely make into the next chapter) will have some real hot 'n heavy action
