You thought I was going to post the final chapter of The Legend of the Clone Wars, but instead it was unexpected holiday story! I would have posted this on time too, if not for that meddling Daylight Savings. It will never get a holiday story because its not a holiday, and it's my least favorite day of the whole year!
I still wanted to post something for International Women's Day though, and I settled on this idea of The Rise of Skywalker crossed with the Sequel to the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Not everything is the same obviously, but it gave me a chance to reference the many female characters of the Zelda franchise. Obviously, there's Zelda herself, but there's also a rather large supporting cast of females dating back to at least Ocarina of Time. I appreciate that about the franchise (as I wait patiently for them to finally let Zelda be the main protagonist {don't let me down BotW 2}). I feel Hyrule Warriors showcases it best as the majority of the original playable warriors were women with the exceptions of Link, Darunia, Zant, Ghirahim, and Ganondorf (they added more of both genders later).
While you're here, you probably also noticed that unlike with say The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story, I didn't gush about the The Rise of Skywalker on the next story I posted after seeing it. Admittedly, I had to sit with that story for awhile after seeing the movie. I had been hoping for Palpatine to reveal himself as a major antagonist of the Sequel Trilogy since The Force Awakens, so when he was revealed last April, I was super psyched about it. The opening to the movie hooked me as well, with the crawl announcing his return, and then Kylo Ren going to Mustafar to get the Wayfinder to reach the Emperor. Then, the meeting between the two of them, revealing Palpatine's undead-esque form, his careful manipulation of his revenge, and the resurrection of the Empire as the Final Order. There were plenty of other things I liked too: such as Leia being revealed as Rey's new Jedi master because she'd been trained by Luke, just as he'd promised in Return of the Jedi, ghost Luke, Palpatine himself, Kylo and Han's reunion, Babu Frik, Dio, the music of course, and oh my goodness, C-3P0 was the best he's ever been. But, there were other things I felt were lacking, particularly in terms of how it worked with Episode VIII. The big one is obviously the revelation that Rey was a Palpatine. For one thing, I don't like my big bads such as Palpatine or Ganondorf having direct offspring. Incarnations of pure evil and hatred should see themselves as above such things. Villains like Darth Vader, for instance, are different. Now, the novelization for the movie has revealed that Palpatine's "son" was actually a failed clone of him, which sort of negates my dislike for that. The other thing is that I felt that reveal was both canned (we've already had the whole "I am your father" thing with Luke and Vader) and it was a way of retconning what VIII had done by making Rey's parents nobodies, a twist I really liked.
Another thing was Reylo. I know some people really like that ship, and as you know, I am not above doing shipping of my own, though it mainly involves a ship Nintendo likes to constantly tease us with but never let us see set sail. Reylo though, doesn't work for me. Sure, Ben Solo was redeemed. He defeated the Knights of Ren and stood with Rey against Palpatine, stopping her from letting her "grandfather" transfer his essence into her. However, that doesn't just erase the fact that he aided and lead the First Order, a tyrannical faction intent on becoming a second Galatic Empire and destroying the last Jedi, essentially erasing what his parents and uncle fought so hard for in the Original Trilogy. He murdered his own father in front of her and then taunted her about it. He severely wounded Finn, tortured Poe, killed Lor San Tekka, murdered other innocents, and was complicit in the Starkiller Base incident. Oh, and he also tried to kill her, then he tried to turn her to the Dark Side, and when that didn't work the first time, he stalked her relentlessly while trying to do so, eventually recklessly doing so while lying to Palpatine and promising to kill her. Sure, they had great chemistry during the middle of Episode VIII, even fighting together after Kylo killed Snoke, but by the end of that movie, I was left with the impression that Rey wanted nothing to do with the fully Dark Side Kylo.
I have no problem with her still trying to save him, but it also comes down to the fact that I didn't ship Rey with anyone. She's the last Jedi after all, and George Lucas firmly believes that Jedi don't get married. They can fall in love, but they shouldn't form that kind of attachment. I do ship Finnpoe though, and they totally should have made that happen.
Anyways, does this mean I'm now one of the people who rants endlessly online about how Disney ruined Star War? No. I still love the Sequel Trilogy as a whole, even if I find fault with parts of its final entry. I especially love the The Last Jedi and I'm excited for whatever trilogy Rian Johnson gets to make (Knives Out was also fantastic). As a whole, I think that Disney has made a lot of fantastic Star Wars, and I enjoy it, so I'll express as much to counter some of the negativity that's out there from say misogynists (there's the connection back to the theme of this story). One movie that I didn't love isn't going to ruin the whole thing for me. There are others who really loved RoS too, and I say more power to them.
This description got a lot longer and more rambly than anticipated, but it felt good to get those thoughts out there. I'll be back with something more vore-related soon.

Interesting, very interesting (don't get me started on this latest movie, but I don't think Disney destroyed star wars. In fact Rogue One is my favorite one)

I'm very touchy on star wars, since it is probably the IP I know the most about so I get you

That's the weird thing about Star Wars. Many people take it so personally that if it doesn't go exactly the way they want, they get super upset about it. I get being passionate about the things you love, but they take it too far.

I feel like it could have been handled better is my stance at this point. Each movie has had some good and some bad to the point I'm just meh on the sequels

It's clear they lacked a central plan now like the prequels had. It worked for the originals because while there was no plan for that trilogy, there was one singular vision that guided them. I feel that VII and VIII work well together, but XI wants to fight with VIII while simultaneously working with it. I still love the trilogy as a whole, but XI has problems I can't just ignore. One thing that does make me sad though is that Carrie Fisher passed away before she could make XI. I feel the movie probably would have worked better if she'd actually had been in it. There was definitely a plan for each of the movie's to be for one of the original big three, and she was going to end the trilogy. Imagine if at the end Leia had been there to help stop the Emperor, the enemy she'd worked so hard to overthrow, and have the satisfaction of knowing he was gone for good (at least, I'm assuming he's gone for good).

I think the original final fight would have worked better but I feel like they leaned way too much into dark empire. The last movie would have done better with another hour to work with. Though generation tech probably wrote the best theoretical script.

Oh, I don't actually have a problem with the final fight between Rey and Palpatine. I know the misogynistic morons who call themselves Star Wars "fans" will say Palpatine lost because Rey was a strong female character, but if they can't see past anything that might threaten their fragile sense of power. Palpatine lost because the power of the all Jedi united to defeat him. They simply happened to have their vessel be Rey. Also, it's not like she beat him because she was magically stronger than him, she beat him because Palpatine was overconfident, which Luke told him 30 years prior, and thought he could simply overpower her with his lightning, which demonstrates that Dark Side is not stronger than the Light, just like Yoda told Luke in Empire. The Dark Side is destructive by nature, and it can become self destructive if you're not careful, so Palpatine went up against all the Jedi and lost, because he was alone and Rey wasn't. Which, admittedly, was basically how he lost in Dark Empire when Luke and Leia made him lose control of his Force storm.
Also, I know Palpatine said he's "all the Sith", but I don't think he meant that literally. There was some confusion because he can transfer his essence into Rey, but I think he's the culmination of all the Sith teachings (he's also technically all the Sith because he's the only Sith left) and transferring himself into Rey would have given her all of his knowledge. But yeah, this last one started to go full Dark Empire, which meant it was less exciting in some ways, where they could have been more original.
Another hour would have been fine in my opinion. Length clearly isn't a problem when it comes to these things, just look at Endgame. The pace probably would have felt less hectic and Palpatine's return could have been built up more. I did see something where someone suggested that Palpatine's goal be to become the Force itself rather than simply try to reconquer the galaxy, which would have been both a super interesting and trippy plot point to explore. Out of curiosity, did you read that leaked script for the original IX: Duel of Fates?

I watched the eckharts ladder videos on it and wanted the battle of coruscant from it. And I meant the whole fight in general, mostly the ship combat. My issue with Rey is she just wasn't interesting enough. Now Kylo on the other hand was my favorite character from it, his rise to power and fall. I honestly think that he should have survived because it would have made Rey's story have a definitive and well done ending. Dying to save the universe and end a legacy of evil would have been cool.

Yeah, but would you can't really leave Ben Solo to form a new generation of Jedi. The New Republic wouldn't just be like "oh, you're on the Light Side again, all is forgiven!" Heck, Leia's political career was ruined by the fact she was Darth Vader's daughter. I do think they copied Rey's story a bit too much from Luke's, but I still like her as a character. Here me out on this crazy idea though. What if Palpatine's goal had been to bring Kylo and Rey to Mordus so they could essentially be like the Father, Son, and Daughter, so he could ascend himself to godlike potential? He's obsessed with immortality and unlimited power after all. Meanwhile, his resurrected Empire could team up with the First Order while the whole galaxy inspired by Luke and rallied by Lando teams up defeat them in one final, epic space battle over Coruscant?

Y’know, you probably could’ve just linked me to the comment threads over here without too much of a problem: and frankly, I’d really appreciate you providing just “1” reason why you didn’t in all this time.
(Still, kudos on managing such succinctness with your thoughts’ general summarization on all this.)

Have you even seen how many things you've been known to post on a daily basis here?
You can't honestly expect everyone NOT a devoted fan of yours' to keep up to date on everything here: there are other writers on this site I'd like to give attention, y'know.

I think I would know how much I post... seeing as I'm the one that has to upload the stories to the gallery... I wasn't assuming you're a devoted fan of mine, I know those when I see them, but you have a knack for showing up for these kinds of things, so I assumed it would happen. If I'd posted this during my busier seasons, I would have mentioned you to make sure you saw it, but I'm rather slow content wise right now, so the risk of it being buried was minimal.

Might you happen to be on Discord, perchance?
Cause I really think we could have quite a bit of camaraderie in discussing all things pertaining to this, and more, there.
No offense to Eka's, but "some" people might get the wrong impression if I try linking them to here instead.
Vore ain't everyone's cup of tea, y'know.

It's not on most calendars, but I find if I like a holiday concept enough, I can make myself write a story for it. Gives me a solid deadline to work against.

"Star Wars" isn't quite ruined since Rogue One, The Mandalorian, and anything else Filoni touches are still good... Sequel trilogy was a hot ass mess though

Only IX was a mess. The other two were perfectly fine. Filoni is my boy though.

Wow, that description is... definitely ranty. I sort of agree with you, VII was alright, VIII was terrible, IX was slightly better, but not by much. At least we have the Mandolorian! Star Wars is the few movie IP's I'm really into, along with the MCU, so I get how passionate you are about this kind of stuff. I mean, the only thing I haven't watched was the clone wa- Oh no. I've said too much. Better go before the CW fans arrive!
Also, happy Mar10 day tomorrow!

*Clone Wars fan has arrived. Crosses arms and raises eyebrows.* You were saying, Mr. Squid?
Those feelings I've had bottled up for like 2 months, so I add to finally spit them out. Kind of like how I slowly bottle up my rage at Eka's whenever someone posts something Zelda related I don't like and then it eventually boils over into either a story or angry description... that everyone that needs to read it ignores and the people who already understand just try to calm me. It's much easier when I really like a movie... like Episode VIII, and then I can just gush about it in all caps in one description and then move on... Or when Eka's goes on a good behavior spree and I feel more inspired to write.
Guess it's too late for a Mario Day story... Oh well, maybe next year!
