Hello, all! I once again bring you a story I wrote with the idea that it could fit in Hip Hugger's universe. And as usual, that doesn't mean it necessarily did happen but rather, is something I think maybe could've happened.


I was thinking: it's been a while since I featured everyone's favorite hippie succubus Hip Hugger and bratty siren Amber Adams in a story. So, I brought this old idea to life with them both as two of the three main characters, along with Betty Parris.


Summary:

Betty Parris, an old hippie friend of Hip Hugger's, joins the succubus and their best friend Amber Adams for some morning coffee. Tensions run high when the siren and witch recognize each other from their past. In a bid to humiliate the Sister of Salem, Amber gets everyone to take part in a beauty contest based off of the famous 'Judgement of Paris'. Of course, no competition would be good without drama, and this one is no exception. For Adams and Parris have agreed to a bet: whoever places higher than the other, gets to eat the loser.


This is actually a story that I thought up a while ago but took a while to get finalized. Most of the story actually had gotten written at one point but I scrapped the whole thing due to not liking how it went. In that draft, Betty was just recognized by Amber and drawn into the contest where she was to be the 'consolation prize' for whoever placed lower between Hip and Amber (first place still ate the judge). The outcome would still be the same, but I didn't like how I wrote Hip + Betty in that tale. I then had the idea of the witch being an old hippie friend of Hip's, which resulted in another draft that, again, was unsatisfactory. Fortunately, this third draft was much better.


Since this story went through re-writes/pacing cuts, I'll share some bits that were planned to be included but ultimately never were:

-Amber was going to talk more about her hatred of witches in the beginning, mocking Lien for her friendship with Valérie and Co.
-The siren also at one point brought up calling McLaren the previous week telling the witch to 'kill herself' but was treated to an un-mutable, magically-enhanced live performance of "Scotland the Brave" on bagpipes.
-Hip was originally going to bond with Betty on the way to the competition after she saw the witch save a squirrel from death and treat a dead tree with respect. She would use this as justification to spare the woman's life when Amber got pissed later on.
-I also toyed with the idea of having Amber reluctantly admit that she liked Rory Byrne, another Sister. This would be a direct reference to a story I've partially written featuring the pair meeting in an "empty" theatre showing "Jurassic Park" in 1993. They'd become friends later on. I'm not sure if that story would work, though, so it's shelved for now.
-There was a brief bit where I contemplated adding the nymph Silk in as a contestant, but that never got penned in writing. It only existed as an idea in my head.
-Betty was going to eat George in the end. She would do this as a sort-of "test" for him; if he survived a minute of her stomach's prowess, then she'd spit him out and continue dating him. If he died...well, he died. I was going to make the end ambiguous but decided against this whole thing as I felt the ending featured here was more logical.
-I also was going to have Amber text Fawnia about Betty shortly after meeting her again, but the inclusion felt awkward so I cut it out. She also would've texted other preds, too, but again, pacing.
