Monster Arcade: Credit Feeding - Drawlloween By Khali -- Report

Drawlloween Day 24 - 2020: "Monster Arcade"

(a.k.a. "Stop Credit Feeding Pt.2)

Ah, anyone remember arcades of the late 80s and early 90s? Huge dark rooms pierced by gaudy lights and neon signs, rows of coin-ops side by side atop thick rugs sopping up trash and spilled drinks . Plopping your quarters up on the bezel of a machine to claim that you're up next on a popular game...

Back then there were some games that punished you for 'credit feeding'. You know, slamming in coin after coin repeatedly just to see the end of a tough game.

Some games reset your score...
Some games completely cut off continues/join-ins at a certain point...

Ever play an obscure title by the name of 'TAA-RA-BITE'? ;)

...

Apparently the namesake character of that particular game has a very hands-on way to stop credit feeding. And look! The current player (and unlucky nearby observer who had her quarters ready) happen to be Blaze Fielding and Garnet, two characters from the very 80s beat-em-up series called 'Streets of Rage'.

Hm, it looks like Taa-ra-Bite herself has emerged from the cheaply decaled coin-up and decided to take just one more credit from Blaze. Just one rather large, flailing 'credit' that is.

Something like a mix of a 'Tron' video game character or an AI like Cort...nah, can't say that name without getting sued :P ...she digitized out of the game and proceeded to shlorp up Blaze, sending those thicc legs a-kicking. Well, that WILL stop her from inserting another coin. And Taa-ra's rabbit-ear like antennae communicate to us what kind of flavor she has too. ^^

And then...seeing how ready Garnet was waiting her turn for the next game, Taa-ra cut to the chase and let her insert something into the machine's coinbox. Or should I say, Taa-ra-Bite's carefully positioned gooey 'coin box'. ;)

Sorry Garnet, those sticky rugs are pretty hard to get a good grip on. I think your credit isn't going to last long.

...

I'm wordy, I know.

I honestly wonder what kind of 'game' Taa-ra-bite there would star in. Playable character or maybe villain from a Pacman-like? Or something like Sinistar? Am I dating things too much? :P

Random trivia: Originally I was planning something involving that blurred out claw machine in the background. Maybe a giantess (Taa-ra?) and a bunch of tiny gaming character types stuffed in there to be picked up and dropped out.

Heh, as I've said, I'm a very slow (garbage) colorist, so this'll be the only Drawlloween prompt I attempt this year.

However, I think I'll have something for Halloween itself if time works out. Enjoy. ^^

Sometimes these game over screens are worth letting the timer run out!

And as a former arcade kid, there's lots of times I would wish this would happen so I could have a crack at the machine.

Goodbye, cabinet hogs!

Yep, you think they're done playing, and they just pull another quarter out and keep at it.

Sometimes the game itself has to tell them to let someone else have a turn. ;)
