I’m genuinely curious what are the suicide rates in this world .
Because I’m pretty sure most people would much rather kill themselves than be eaten by these preds . And since the society is based around devouring people and being cruel about it. I would think that a better option for people is poison rather than being burned alive and then trapped with the monster who killed you. Like it’s not even like they care about their prey either , so it’s like what’s the point of even trying if people already decided you can’t be useful . Especially for people who go to beacon . Also why do people even go to beacon , there’s no point in going there unless you are a highly skilled protégés , and even then , you still are in constant danger . I would think that the amount of students would decrease every year till no one is willing to take classes there ?

I’m sorry if these are dark and weird questions but they were the ones I’ve been thinking about since I started reading your story

oh i love what he did, its the semi perfect solution. taking advantage of preds not wanting to taste that is a wonderful idea. however that stil doesnt save him froma grimm , it doesnt save him from a huntress , and it wont save him from a random pred who doesnt care. all this did was extend his life.

and with the fact that people can take souls and keep them , there is even more reason for him to think suicide is a better option if he is cornered. think about it, he went through all that trouble to stay alive, if someone was to try and eat him regardless, he would feel hopeless.

what makes this more interesting is the fact that these preds can take souls . so you dont even get an afterlife. the prey should be constantly screaming , their families should be trying to get revenge but instead people are apathetic . which should further increase the rates of suicide.

I mean... not really... the suicide rates for prey are almost non existent really. They get eaten before and are often constantly monitored so yeah it happens right? And Beacon is like... do you want to be eaten with or without learning to fight back. A one in a hundred chance of getting better but it's like better than nothing.

HMMM , perhaps the question i shouldve asked is , what are the depression rates and do people try to commit suicider. however you have somewhat answered those.

so its not that there are no suicide rates , but rather , they are too closley monitored to commit suicide. which leads me to believe that the depression rates must be extremely high. as if suicide is not an option, then that means that the people who are deemed prey or weak, dont even have an escape. so what is even the point for anyone.. its not even that the odds are stacked agaisnt them , it's that the entire world is stacked against them. so like what the point. it even seems that death by grimm is a better option than being eaten by a hunter/huntress. with the grimm you can at least attempt to get them to kill you first rather than eat you. or at least use the grimm as a distraction and then kill themselves. its pretty clear that its pointless. i would ask why they dont try and sacrifice themselves to people who care about them. however with how the majority of the people are , and with the mentality that the preds have, that would likely be a worse fate than death by grimm.
