I'm sure a lot of ponies could have told - and perhaps did tell - Cadence and Shining Armor that accepting a Changeling into their kingdom was a bad idea, no matter how much he might have claimed to be a 'nice' Changeling. Luckily, neither of them have to worry about whether or not that was the right decision now. Because one of them has already digested down to a thick soup, and the other can't tell if it's night or day without being ordered to notice. Thorax is going to be making some changes around here...
