In a roundabout manner, I almost can't help but wish that Misa ended up digesting her occupants instead. Possibly as an "alternate" ending, in outright annoyance/spite, that leads to a hint of "if Gil (or Kimmy) got digested by Misa" instead, if they reached even deeper inside her?

Yeah, she's much too nice for that. She had a bad experience that pretty much makes her think that digesting a bunch of violently struggling, screaming victims is a bad idea.
