The short of it is that she's a youkai, born with the "antagonist" gene, meaning she can only gain proper sustenance off of the discomfort and suffering of other beings. It's a disgrace in the youkai world to be born like that because most antagonists aren't civilised and don't respect tradition or anything like that (which is a big deal in my setting)
BUT she's an incredible leader for her clan and rules with an iron fist, despite what everyone thought she'd be.

Oh really? That makes her pretty sympathetic as far as preds go! I like her :) Can you tell me anything else? Like if Gatenmaru has any friends despite her "antagonist" gene, or what her interests are?
