They were sent out on an exploration, trying to scout for a new location to set up camp. All three of the girls were not too fond of the idea at first, knowing full well what dangers awaited them outside the safety of their current camp. What's more: they would have to cross through an open expanse of grass, making themselves into easy prey for any hungry predator.
After an hour or two of walking though, they had not spotted any sign of danger and allowed themselves to relax a little. Taking solace in the fact that in this open field, they would see a threat coming from a mile away and have ample time to hide or run. They broke out into banter, talking and giggling loudly; actually enjoying the trip. This however caught the attention of a certain harpy -Syla- who was out on her regular morning flight.
The three girls had no warning, no sign that their lighthearted conversation would come to such an abrupt end. They had no time to react to the sudden gust of air from behind them as one of them found herself in sudden darkness, halfway trapped in Syla's mouth already. There was no time to be shocked, as Syla set her eyes on the next girl. The only thing they could do was run and hope they were fast enough to escape becoming a harpy's breakfast.
Syla is the winner of the Patreon poll this month!
I feel like a winged character gives plenty of opportunity for different angles and dynamics than other characters might, so I tried to take advantage of that in this drawing. Along with trying out a new technique for environments/backgrounds, which I ended up really liking.
Also tried my hand at a little bit of writing to go along with the illustration this time, as you may have noticed.I wanted to up the effort I put into my descriptions.
I would love to hear what you think of it, and if I should keep adding a small bit of writing to my illustrations in the future.
Hope you like the drawing!

When are they gonna learn, sending the cutest ones always ends in noms. Send the less cute ones, they might survive longer~!
Love everything here~ The two starting to panic and flee, the lovely set of legs about to slip away... Perspective is a bit odd, but I'd say its a pretty good compromise in trying to fit everything on the screen at once! Outfits the tribal cuties are wearing are really nice too~
And the writing is light, leaving lots of room to imagine what happens next, while filling in some blanks for us about the scene. Very nice~

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I wasn't sure how it was all gonna come together, since I tried quite a fair amount of new things with this one.

You may have noticed that I’m a big fan of adding a story to accompany art. I’m a writer first, so I think that a little narration bolsters my illustration! Your illustration requires no extra padding. Nevertheless, the narration bolsters it! Thanks for putting forth the effort and soaring to new heights! Officially casting a vote for the “in favor of adding small bit of writing” camp. Love the extra context to accompany a good gobble!

Haha, that kind of reception really makes me want to keep putting in the effort. And to hear it from someone who is definitely more experienced in writing than me, makes me really happy.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but why settle for one or the other when both are available?

I am really liking this action perspective. Syla's eyes are so pretty and sharp, as bird's should be.
And honestly ? I missed this big girl, last picture of her I can remember was with that rude snack. You really made me happy with this one

This is positively gorgeous! Love the perspective, and the sense of motion is really well done!
The accompanying mini-story is also really nice! I'm quite fond of adding a bit of story & context to images in this way! :D
