If there is one institution that may be universally revered on Mojie, it is the public library. With just a card, one can access an immense trove of the stories and knowledge that personkind has produced. Indeed, the library cards of Mojie are part of a whole. The library network encompasses the whole of the planet; a card valid in the southernmost of Suzaku is just as valid in the northernmost of Genbu.

Mojie's library system is robust, well-funded, and held to high standards. Of the architectural wonders on the planet, the main building of the Great Library Campus of Pandemonium is second only to The Ziggurat; its beauty is said to even surpass the Imperatrum's Palace, and is only surpassed by the wealth of its shelves.

This is not Elis's library. Settled in a quaint little town in the taiga of Genbu, the Kumonosu Toshokan is in many ways the center of the town, with the eight-legged librarian himself being something of a local celebrity. With a pleasant smile and a true love for the tales we weave, Elis is sure to leave a good impression on anyone. It's little wonder he came into such good graces with the Shitenno of Suzaku; in the matter of loving letters, they are kindred spirits. In fact, many of the books that Beatrice has taken from her hometown have been copied by Elis himself; with a meticulous, delicate hand to re-create the illustrations, the little touches on each letter, and new, sturdy paper to hold up against the digitalization. He has also written a number of scholarly papers, with fluency in multiple languages - but his heart and his fame reside in the library.

The library is where he is most comfortable. The building is noticeably large for the size of its collection; shelves are far apart, doors are wide, and the shelf material is thick and strong. This is because Elis himself, as many Tauric Araneae are, is an absolutely massive individual. Nine and a half feet separate the tip of his claws to the top of his head, while his legs are wide and spread broad, and his abdomen is large and reaches far behind him.

Needless to say, most places aren't built for him. The result is someone who has a difficult time being anywhere else; he will quickly become skittish and self-conscious of knocking anything over with his large spider butt. Of the places he has been outside the library, only Beatrice's castle has been an exception; the castle itself being built for people of an unusually large size.

Of course, despite the size of the library relative to its collection, it still manages to have a quaint, homely feel; this is mostly due to Elis himself being such a warm, friendly person to his guests.

Please note - he's not a drider. Driders are part drow. In-universe, they're usually called araneae, in reference to the order associated with spiders; this being opposed to an arachnid or arachne, which, by definition, ought to include scorpions and mites. However, for simplicity's sake, I will be tagging him as a "spider-taur".
