Pacha's Quest v4.5 BugFix By BizzareBlue -- Report

Soooo... nagas now deal digestion damage. Nightmare mode gives slightly more xp than the regular version to cut down on the required grinding time a little. The altar in the hive no longer sometimes makes Pacha invisible. A bug testing character that hands out free stuff in the hive has been removed. being rescued from drowning in the seal's village no longer send you back to the otters and a few other minor things have been fixed.

Yeah, unfortunately I haven't found any way of fixing that yet. Dropbox just seems to break, then fix itself a few hours later fairly intermittently and I can't figure out why. The mediafire link seems much more reliable.

This is legitimately one of the best vore games I've ever had the joy of playing. So many other's either never get finished or only cater to one audience. It's so rare to find one with both male and female preds as well as humanoids and anthros.

I'm absolutely loving all the different pred scenes and how your choices have an effect on the story. Felgate, Martin, Sichi and Nahata are my favorite preds so far aside from Pacha.

I have a couple ideas for some things I think would be really neat to expand on what's already in game, but feel free to disgard any or all of of them. Especially if they would be too challenging to implement or don't fit with the direction you want to take things. It's your game after all :)

Currently when going to bed with a belly full of prey, only Pacha has a digestion dialog with them and was wondering if it would be possible to change the formation or choose who gets to take a rest to digest down the line. I'd love to see a dialogue with Felgate lying down with his chipmunk apprentice or Sichi with a fellow mouse in her stomach.

When given the option to purchase prey for sale, maybe they could be added to the inventory and you could choose which pred is going to eat or free them?

I don't know how feasible it would be to maybe have a reformation mechanic added for certain NPCs or even just allies. Perhaps via Felgate's necromancy? I'm aware that a reformation mechanic could have some major impacts on the story, such as as Sichi becoming a little more open minded or less judgmental to the craft and eventually allowing predators and prey like the stoats and rabbits to coexist alongside each each other with less tragedy for the buns.

Alternatively, there could be a mechanic to release or regurgitate prey from your belly that would function similarly to letting them go after defeating them in battles? For unique NPCs or allies maybe the dialogue could even change to reflect you ate them once before.

The idea of Felgate and Martin or other characters being able to develop a caring pred/prey relationship similar to the cat and mouse in the hatshop has me swooning. Would love some sort of relationship mechanic allowing your characters to get closer to each other. Even if it was just Pacha being able to romance an ally and bond with them via noms or being nommed. Safely or otherwise. Could also be platonic closeness if romance isn't your jam.

Would just generally be cool if you could eat allies you've grown attached to without losing them permanently and have some unique dialogue there.

I know there's currently a weight loss and weight gain mechanic depending on how many prey you eat and how often, but as far as I can tell it doesn't seem to have an impact on gameplay currently. Maybe it could affect your dialogue choices, Pacha or allies moods or even force a vore scene to trigger out of hunger?

Another idea could be an option for your preds to make a swallow attempt on enemies during battle and deal digestion damage. And maybe allies could have an ability to offer belly rubs to allied preds to deal bonus digestion damage and potentially trigger some dialogue there.

Possibility of a light magic trainer for Sichi?

Anyway, I'm totally in love with what you have so far and wanted to throw out some ideas of ways you could potentially expand on the other existing characters and world. I hope the suggestions were helpful and inspiring rather than obnoxious and unwelcome. You seem fairly receptive to feedback and suggestions so I thought I'd throw a few out there. I can really feel how passionate you are about this game and all the love and hard work you've put into it.

Your game is also what drew me to your writing which I'm also in love with now :)

I also found a couple of potential bugs/typos you may or may not be aware of. One is during the fight with Marriane and Jane, if your other allies are defeated and Pacha is in Marriane's stomach, Jane and Marriane charge and attack as if Pacha is on the battlefield instead of in her stomach.

I also had the game crash when I defeated the slime girl in trader's town, but when I tried a second time it didn't happen again, so I'm not 100% sure what caused it. The exact error message was "Script 'Scene_Battle' line 962: NoMethodError occured. undefined method 'animation_id='for nil:NilClass" Not sure if anything in there can help you pinpoint it. I think I accidentally saved over that file, but if I encounter it again in a future playthrough I'll try to provide more info.

Just a typo here. In the "inn" in the Avian settlement, when the Magpie says, "Oh, it's definitely not, sooner or later will need to work out exactly where our boundaries are..." Will should be we'll.

Sorry about the long text, just want to help support this project in any way I can. Let me know if there's any other ways we can help :) Kofi, artwork, dialogue suggestions via a google doc, etc.

First off, sorry for the slow response. The next update is going to be pretty big so I’ve been very engrossed in the code for the last few weeks and haven’t been checking this site very frequently. I’m really glad to hear that you’re enjoying it though, and yeah, unfinished games are very disappointing so I’m determined to make sure that this one gets to the ending. Also, glad to hear that Sichi’s in your favorite list as she’s going to get a lot more content coming up soon.

I’m always happy to hear ideas and suggestions, and to implement them if I can, although rpgmaker has some weird limitations which sometimes makes things that should have been very simple surprisingly hard to add.

I had considered having digestion dialogue for the others for a while, as I did want to include that scene for Felgate and a few others, but initially dismissed it as unworkable on the assumption that it would involve writing ten times the number of digestion scenes. Looking at it again, however, it might be possible to just add a limited number of digestion scenes for certain enemies that could crop up as an alternative if Pacha goes to bed without having eaten anything. Still, it probably isn’t something that will get added to the next update as I’ve already bitten off too much for this one. It would be nice to try to add it eventually though.

Hmmm, it should be possible to add an item for a tied up prey. I’ll look into adding that somewhere soon.

There probably isn’t going to be any reformation or regurgitation content I’m afraid. Reformation doesn’t fit well with the permadeath theme I was aiming for and would mess with the plot quite a bit, and regurgitating their prey isn’t something that fits with many of the characters’ personalities. It would also be tricky to implement. Right now, the game doesn’t properly keep track of which enemies someone has eaten, just a list of items to be regurgitated and one character’s id for the pre-digestion taunt. Admittedly there is one regurgitation scene that I think crops up if Pacha has eaten Sichi moments before realizing that she needs to go to her temple, but I think that’s the only one. When starting this I did look into the idea of making a menu where you could see a list of everyone currently in each character’s stomachs, but it got a little too complex and ended up as something that I decided might be fun to add to a different game once this one is finished, but probably isn’t something I can manage in rpgmaker.

I’m toying a little with the idea of adding some romance options at some point and have a few ideas for it, but I’m not really sure which, if any, are actually the ones that will get implemented. It’s probably only going to come up very near to the end of the game though.

Weight gain does have a few places where it effects the story, mostly by changing the dialogue options slightly although these are usually fairly subtle. Getting a character to max or min weight also triggers a new random dialogue for them which can effect their happiness levels a little. Finally, it has a few minor changes in combat, with spell casters sometimes benefiting from being lower weight (in a sort of fasting to focus the mind theme) and physical attackers getting bonuses from being heavier. There’s also one move that does damaged based on the user’s weight. Still, overall the weight gain doesn’t effect very much. It’s something I added but haven’t found as much use for as I’d hoped at the time.

A move to swallow enemies before they were defeated was something I looked at adding, but eventually gave up on. If they could escape then it ran into the same issues with regurgitation and keeping track of which characters were in who’s stomachs, and if escape was impossible then it would be almost impossible to balance. In the end, the ability to swallow your opponent mid fight was limited to the enemies. A belly rub that can either benefit characters that have at least eaten someone might be interesting though?

Yeah, I’m still working out what to give her, but Sichi should be getting the option to unlock some more spells in the next update.

Really glad you’re enjoying the game so far and I definitely appreciated the suggestions and will be trying to add some of them in when I get the chance. Thanks for these, the digestion scenes for members other than Pacha in particular is something I want to add soon.

Also, thanks for the bug and typo catches. I’ll try to get the typos and weird behavior for Marianne and Jane fixed for the next update, and will definitely look into that crash. Thanks for catching the exact error message and line number as well. That should help a lot with working out what’s causing that.

No worries about taking your time responding or for focusing on your game. Goodness knows it takes me awhile to reply. I'm just glad my suggestions weren't a huge overstep ^^;

Keeping digestion dialog for allies limited to only bosses or special NPCs might help cut back on the workload and be more intuitive for the player as well, so they aren't trying out every random enemy and getting frustrated. And no pressure to add any of these suggestions or commit to a timeframe for them. Your game is already fantastic and any future content will be worth the wait, however long it takes <3

I can definitely see how reformation and regurgitation would pose a problem with the plot and especially trying to keep track of tons of random enemies/NPCs.

Would a regurgitation scene work better if it was exclusively tied to a romance option? Perhaps the pred could eat their partner and get a special scene at the inn where they choose to lovingly digest or release them? That would keep it a rare and exceptional occurance and hopefully keep it from becoming an unworkable mess.

But once again, if that's still too tricky to implement or it doesn't jive with your overall vision, feel free to disregard the idea entirely and any others that don't work for you :)

Makes sense that romance would mostly be end game content as the urgency of the situation the characters face would take priority, but the time they spend together over the course of the game and working together would lead to a more satisfying build up anyway. Would also be cool to have some romance specific vore dialog as well.

Maybe a belly rub effect or skill could be exclusively used by allies on pred allies who've just eaten someone outside of battle? Perhaps affecting their happiness levels and/or affection level between the pred and the ally/or prosepctive love interest doing the rubbing?

Glad to hear you're getting the core content implemented first and not biting off more than you can chew. Don't want to get burned out after all. Self care is important too.

I'm very excited to see the added content for Sichi in the next update whenever it's released.

I'm really glad you found my suggestions and bug/typo report helpful. I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled for any other bugs I encounter (though they're incredibly few and far between) and provide as much detail as possible.

Yeah, having a few boss characters that can trigger digestion scenes when eaten by the other characters makes sense and would help keep the main focus on Pacha while still giving a little more insight into the other’s personalities, especially for the non-traditional preds. I’ve got a few ideas for scenes like that already.

Regurgitation as a romantic act is something I hadn’t considered before. I’ve actually made a little more progress with finding a place for the romance scenes, although they probably are going to get bumped back to a later update as well. Still, when I do get around to writing them, I’ll have a look into a linking in a regurgitation scene, but it will depend a little on how the rest of the scene works out.

Some belly rubbing content would definitely be good as well if I can work out how to work it in with the other stuff I have planned.

I have a suggestion. I reckon it would be cool if you could trade your prey allies for a free night at the inns or even multiple nights (the Otter innkeeper gave me the idea). All good if you don’tt feel like it fits though.

Hmmmmm... that would be a much cheaper reward than your usually get from sacrificing an ally, but I do like the idea. I'll have a look at adding it... although I'm a little weighed down with all the other things I'm trying to add to this update so it might get pushed back a little.

I've played a little and just have one question. I see in the tags here you mention soul vore. Is all vore in the game canonically soul vore or do you have some specific soul eating preds out there?

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 2 years ago Report

There's not much soul vore I'm afraid. The ghosts in the Rabbit temple and the zombies in the graveyard (in the patreon version) both have a soul vore attack, but other than that I haven't found places to include it much, so it's one of the ideas that never got properly used in the game.

There’s a bush up in the corner of the graveyard at Trader’s Town that looks like it goes straight to the second event page. I think you missed a switch or self-switch in its conditions.

BizzareBlue

Posted by BizzareBlue 2 years ago Report

Ooops, yes. Thanks for catching that. That was one of the tiny things that was basically just there to reward the few people determined enough to go around clicking on every single bush or wall in the game, and yeah, I’d completely missed that it wasn’t doing its job.

It should be fixed in the next update though.
