When they say power goes to your head, I'm beginning to think in this case it's rather literal. Messing with deep forces of the world possibly leading to them having difficulty controlling themselves? Granted, there is reason to be angry here, but Fris is looking like when Gretal went off the deep end just a little bit back. Maybe that first kiss of power flowing them made them volatile until they could get themselves under control?

This is still very true, it's mostly the whole eye thing that's making me wonder if their heads are a little messed with from all the magic. Like, not entirely the cause, but building on a shaky foundation of a mental state and giving it a little push.
