Not sure what this is? Here's a post explaining the series!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712411
____________
There were some mixed opinions about how to handle Veela’s fate, so I wound up going with the suggestion of attempting to get flirty with Bally, and only mentioning anything about Veela(or Perun) if that falls flat. But for once, it didn’t! We ultimately didn’t quite stick the landing, but I think it was still a satisfying outcome.
Now that the situation is settled and we’re at the start of a new day, it’s time to decide what our plan is! For ease of reference, here’s a recap of some info about the surrounding area from earlier in the story:
- Laridan is a large city to the west, with a dominant harpy population. Bally sells her crops to a merchant there, who sends a group of harpies to the farm to collect that are scheduled to arrive within a couple days.
- Perun is a village to the south, closer than Laridan. It’s mostly populated by a mix of Lycans and humans. Bally has heard that they’re dealing with some sort of crisis there right now, but she doesn’t have any specific information
- Bally mentioned that there is a warlord on the rise terrorizing the east side of this end of the vale
On top of that, now that the situation with Veela has full resolved we’ve leveled up!
So, in addition to deciding what our next steps are, please also comment with how you think we should spend points for improvement:
- Choose one stat boost: +10 to health, stamina, or mana, or +2 to capacity
- Choose one attribute boost: +1 to Strength, Charisma, Perception, Dexterity, Resilience, or Intelligence
You can find Adrea’s character sheet here!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712418
Remember, you can ask any questions about the world (that are relevant to the current chapter) if you think you want/need more information about something! I'll do a 'live' intelligence check before answering if it's something Adrea might know.
And as one final note, ProtocolARC did some fantastic fanart of a scene from the last chapter, check it out!

I'll keep it simple and say we stay with Bally until the harpies arrive. Maybe help her out with actual farm duty while we wait.
After the fight We lost a bit of health. So I'd say spec into more health. Lastly I'd go with Dex, just so our main stat is just slightly higher than the other stats

Well I won’t say no to an excuse to keep good company as long as possible~ If you need any help around the farm I’m here for it~ And if a farmer needs a little stress relief I’m all ears~

more health, and be smarter would be how I spend our points. As for our next action, I'm voting to wait for the harpies. As for the (former) theif's loved one, I wonder if we could summon them. We know her name, and what she is, right?

Hypothetically yes, if we really wanted to work at it there should be a way to summon Petra, but Adrea wouldn't even know where to get started with that. Not to mention based on Veela's story Petra is presumably an earth nymph, and Adrea doesn't have any proficiency with earth magic.

I'm in favor of boosting health and intelligence. Other than that, I'm going to second waiting and helping out on the farm until the harpies come in.
Also, just going to throw in that trying to summon Veela's lover seems like a horrible idea that will almost certainly get us killed by a distraught elemental.

Loved this chapter! Finally gettting some success with Bally while still seeing her apprehension really makes her feel like a well rounded character.
As much as it hurts to leave our wolf freind, I think it's time we got back on the road. Perun seems like the more interesting destination to me, since we already know there's something going on there that we might want to check out. Let's say our farewells and promise to come visit again to Bally, then set off for Perun.
I'll echo what ScarKnight said about trying to summon Veela's elemental, it seems like a pretty bad idea that will probably get us killed.
For our stat boost, I'll vote +10 to Health - Considering how beat up we got during that fight with Veela, a bigger health pool couldn't hurt.
For our attribute boost, I'll vote +1 to Intelligence - It's our spellcasting stat, and considering it's all we've really got going for us in combat, it seems smart to keep investing in improving it.

Glad you liked it! To note, intelligence does not affect our spellcasting ability here, all of the attributes are purely for skill checks ^^;

Oh! I misunderstood, thanks for clarifying. I think I'll keep my vote for intelligence though anyway, I like the idea of Adrea being about outsmarting people instead of getting physical.

+10 health, +1 Intelligence
I say we stick around with Bally and leave when the harpies come. Get to spend some more time with Bally and I feel like the harpy route has more information we can use going into it, the other routes seem more dangerous. Also, I recall Veela was wearing some hardy leather armor, after the bruising blows we took it could be useful, but I don't know how strong digestive enzymes are, maybe we should ask Bally if it survived the trip?
Posted by OsmiumOrchid 3 years ago Report
Unfortunately, that tunic definitely got digested alongside her, the thought of it maybe surviving intact would not even cross Adrea's mind

Get to Laridan.
