Not sure what this is? Here's a post explaining the series!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712411
____________
We've got ourselves settled at an inn and spent a pleasant evening with the harpy merchants! Given the timing we couldn't exactly explore the town yet as suggested, but we've gotten a decent amount of information about what's around.

So, the big question is, what should we do now?

Here's a recap of various locations we've seen/heard about in the city, for reference:
- We've seen the market plaza, a tavern, a general store, and a tailor
- The harpies told us about the mage guild in town, a big place called "The Phenon Emporium", and the main plaza where there should be a notice/bounty board
- We heard from Ethel that the hunters guild has a building somewhere in the city
- From the bounty board way back in Bellriver we know there's at least one brothel somewhere

You can find Adrea’s character sheet here!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712418

Remember, you can ask any questions about the world (that are relevant to the current chapter) if you think you want/need more information about something! I'll do a 'live' intelligence check before answering if it's something Adrea might know.

| CLOSED - There's either a more recent entry available to read or I've already outlined the next chapter! |

Since we're technically a mage, we should certainly try to find that Mage guild mentioned some time ago, if not the hunters guild(hunters guild because we might have a good reference from a certain archer). Either way, we do need quick cash so we need to check that notice board. As for what Miram can do, we can ask if A, she want to work a normal-ish job(like restocking items, being a clerk, etc-etc), becoming something like Adrea(I imagine Miram being a rouge), or if she willing to get 'busy'(I have no idea on what the brothel is looking for, but I imagine they got very little goblins). We can also ask her want she wants to do, as I'm certain there are more options I've haven't covered(maybe she want to become a scientist, or create a goblin hoard of her own. Maybe even making her own guild).

Definitely in favor of checking out the main plaza bounty board and the mage guild. We should also see if the Featherfall has its own board, since Filia mentioned that a lot of taverns have their own dedicated board.

As for Miriram, we should try to probe her for what she wants to do, but at the same time, I'd want to try and push her toward the adventurer life style. I just noticed that she has a section on our character sheet and I don't want to give that up.

I agree with Persona, the notice board in the main plaza, the mages' guild and the hunters guild are all places we should go check out, probably in that order. Once we've establised what kind of work is available from those sources, we should discuss with Miriam what she'd like to do, and if she'd prefer to work a "normal job" or help us out with what I imagine will be more "adventurer jobs" we pick up from those places.

I'd like to visit the mage's guild for sure, it seems like a wonderful way to probably improve/learn new spells.

What does Adrea know of Mage's guilds, rather, what assumptions can she make about it based on previous experiences. Are they likely to sell scrolls and potions? Or are they generally a "only members are allowed access to recources; paid or otherwise" kind of place?

I think a plan of action, or longterm goal for the future for us would be to get Miriam into fighting shape, I believe she's definitely capable of becoming stronger, the fact that she's been able to survive so long on cunning and charm alone is impressive, honestly. If she isn't receptive to the idea at first, let her know that you don't just don't want anything bad to happen to her. Ask her if there's any martial skills she thinks she'd be proficient at, perhaps we could see if the hunter's guild would be willing to teach her some self defense tactics. Maybe we can even motivate her by setting a goal for her to work toward like "One day, you can return to Bellriver.. and gobble up Malva for that insultingly low bounty. And by then you'll be strong enough to eat TEN Mavlas!"

It would be nice to window shop with Miram at the Phenon Emporium or visit the local tailor, pick the clothes she likes now so we have a more short term goal to work toward, have a regular girls day out! Don't let Miram forget that our perilous adventure can be fun too, you know?

Once we've done that, we can end the day by unwinding at the tavern together. Besides listening in on some conversations might dig up some interesting information, perhaps leads on some money making opportunities. Based on what we've seen, I believe that would be an environment Miram would thrive in, if nothing else we've got an extra set of (pointy) ears to rely on. While we're there we can even check to see if they've got a bulletin board.

And finally, if we manage to reconviene at the inn, ask Miram if she wants to cuddle.

Fully in support of all of this lol. I hadn't even considered encouraging Miriam to go back to Bellriver one day & get back at Malva by eating her, but now that the idea is in my head I love it and we totally should.

Whoops, sorry! This is my third time rereading this comment for details and it *just* registered that there was a question directed at me at the start ^^;

Adrea is not overly familiar with mage guilds as her village was too small to have one of its own. It strikes her as the most obvious place to look for any magic related equipment like that, but based on her limited interactions with guilds in general she'd expect that you probably need to be a member to have access to most of it. It's not impossible they'd run, or be able to point us in the direction of, a store for magic goods though. In general, she's not entirely sure what they do beyond offering training to would-be mages who join the guild

I think this was a really neat little chapter.

Also the mental image of the goblin just sprawling out on the bed is quite lovely.

Check the mages guild first, that seems like the best way to get stable employment. After that check the bounty boards for things to look out for and any odd jobs to start us and Miram off.
The Phenon Emporium sounds interesting to go do some window shopping there. I'm sure nothing can go wrong with two thieves walking around and not buying anything. It also shouldn't hurt to ask around there if anyone was hiring, Miram deeds a stable* job after all.
