Not sure what this is? Here's a post explaining the series!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712411
____________
Directly telling Sirna about how we ended up at her shop may not have been the wisest move, but luckily Adrea has been absolutely nailing all her rolls in this encounter! In fact, I didn't think we had any shot at getting Sirna to actually offer up the goods, but we actually rolled a crit on the charisma check for pushing her to offer a fairy at the start!

Now we've been kindly offered a job that's definitely completely voluntary, will we accept? And there's been some conflicting opinions in the comments so now's the time to settle the subject: While we can't realistically afford it right now, should we try to get a fairy for Adrea's personal use? Any other thoughts on the current situation?

Also, since we're somewhat unexpectedly still in The Serpent's Salve this chapter, I though I'd give a quick reminder/recap of notable things from comments on previous chapters that are still on the agenda for the rest of Adrea's day:
- Inquire about Miram's seeming aversion to nagas
- Report back (that we didn't find anything suspicious) to the guild, and stand up for ourselves if the harpy working the desk is rude again
- Check out the notice board in the main plaza

You can find Adrea’s character sheet here!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712418

Remember, you can ask any questions about the world (that are relevant to the current chapter) if you think you want/need more information about something! I'll do a 'live' intelligence check before answering if it's something Adrea might know.

| CLOSED - There's either a more recent entry available to read or I've already outlined the next chapter! |

I say get details on the job before agreeing to anything, but we're probably gonna take it.But I also think we do want the fairy. Potentially for many reasons, but we do want the fairy.

I say we take the job whether or not we actually plan to follow through on it. Sirna's pretty peeved at us, and I feel like if we tell her no, it won't end well. I also say we keep the fairy in mind, but personally I'm against it. If we report back to the mage guild that Sirna wasn't peddling fairies, but we happen to have one suddenly, the Guild probably won't let it believe it. Albeit I know we wouldn't buy it now, but if we do plan on enrolling at the mage guild I'd rather not be caught with a fairy later on

Definitely in favor of taking the job. Also, definitely actually interested in the fairy, but I’ll fully admit that’s just because I think having a belly pet is cute as opposed to the actual benefits it provides.

Lol, okay so maybe suggesting this course of action was riskier than I thought.

It looks at this point like we don't have a choice regarding taking this job she's offering. I get the feeling it's not going to be the kind of job we want to take and will probably put us in danger as I can see whatever this is being a way for her to try and get rid of us now that she knows why we're here, but I think our only way out now is to take it.

We should also probably mention that if we suddenly dissapear after getting sent on this job from the guild, the guild is going to be able to put 2 and 2 together, and that only garuntees that they'll be investigating her even more closely. We don't want that, she doesn't want that. Her only way out is to let us go, but we're willing to do whatever else we can to prove she can trust us.

Regarding the fairy, I think it's a bad idea for the same reasons TrashMammal has outlined. Is it a cute idea? Sure. But I just don't think it's smart or worthwhile.

I’m not sure if we want to bring up the risk of disappearing us. She’s already inclined to let us go with a job, but she’s still pissed at us and I’m not sure we want to say anything that could be interpreted as a threat.

Actually yeah that's a good point. We should only mention that if it looks like she's about to grab us, or if the job she wants to send us on sounds like a suicide mission.

Ah! That was really risky to not only push further, but then confess! Our luck has to be amazing to have gotten this far. This is the part of the fun of the decision being a collective one though. My suggestion was safe, but would have missed out on such a tense chapter.

Accept the job, and ask if it is potentially a regular thing, and if there alternative jobs around here for a novice mage rather than working for the guild.
Say that we are interested in the fairy, but express concern about taking it with us to report to the guild: ask if it's possible for the anyone at the guild to detect that you have it.
Also, let's not antagonize the harpy at the mage's guild. Kinda seems equivalent to walking into a barracks and slapping a guard (it will not end well).

I'm willing to try and take whatever job Sirna is offering us, we took a very dangerous gamble, and we're very lucky to only end up with a damaged relationship, so I'll like to work on repairing that. And I am actually interested in the fairy, or at least knowing her name. If she can talk with us, I'll consider actually taking with us(Maybe/maybe not as a belly pet), as the more company the fun it is.

To your comment of "if she can talk with us": This isn't Adrea's first time hearing about fairies, but as Masrah sort of explained they're pretty enigmatic and even 'experts' don't really know much about how they work or why they exist. One of the many oddities about them is that there have been a few recorded instances of fairies that were completely fluent in the common tongue, yet the vast majority seem to be mute. So it's unclear if they *can* all speak and tend to choose not to, or if they can be taught to speak, or if there was something different about the ones who could speak. Given that she didn't say anything during the encounter in this chapter it's unlikely the one offered to us can talk, but there's no way to say for certain.

fair enough, but that doesn't account for sign/body language. I'm working on the idea that all fairies are smart enough to understand us, or at least this fairy is. But seeing the other comments, I've seen that people are against having a fairy for good reasons. But hopefully, the job we're about to get would allow us to get a fairy, and incriminate someone for fairy selling. (Ie, we say that Sirna wasn't selling fairies, and actually helped us in finding someone who was selling fairies. That way, we get a fairy, we technically fulfill our job, and Sirna gets the mage guild off her back. If that not the job, we can suggest something like that to her.)

Don't have much to add this time around. We definitely have to accept her terms here, although I will say mentioning the mages guild would be suspicious if Adrea disappeared is not something we want to bring up, even under duresses. That's like that last thing someone says before they disappear. As for the fairy, personally I'm against it. One: It's expensive and Two: the idea of 'cycling' the fairy, for me at least, is a little ick.
