Not sure what this is? Here's a post explaining the series!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712411
____________
We've finally moved on from Sirna's shop and carried on with the rest of our day! Pulled from a lot of suggestions from the past couple chapters for this one.

A lot of potential options have been laid out, what are your thoughts on our plan of action?

You can find Adrea’s character sheet here!: https://aryion.com/g4/view/712418

Remember, you can ask any questions about the world (that are relevant to the current chapter) if you think you want/need more information about something! I'll do a 'live' intelligence check before answering if it's something Adrea might know.

| CLOSED - There's either a more recent entry available to read or I've already outlined the next chapter! |

We should definitely stick with Sirna's plan and meet with Kip in the morning. If this job is going to take all day, we probably don't have time for any of the bounties tomorrow. Though if we did finish with Sirna's job in time, I'd vouch for joining the bandit hunting party at the Inn (assuming we aren't beat up/ low on mana).

Now more about Sirna's job. I think we should be on guard around Kip while we are on the job. We shouldn't make it obvious we don't trust her, but we def shouldn't just drop our guard around her. With all those scars, she's had her fair share of fights and potentially meals too. I'm worried this job may turn into a one-way trip if we aren't careful.

Side notes: No more blurting out our intentions when sneaking into places, and no more being rude until we can retort with cool comebacks

I'll second sticking with Sirna's plan and keeping on guard around Kip, in particular, I'd be ready to bolt if it looks like we're going to be used as bait.

Other than that, I'd be open to taking the library job if we have time. I know that being too careful could get annoying after a while, but I'd like to try and build Miram up a bit before heading into anything too dangerous.

Also, I'm specifically against taking the cairn job. The job to take on the bandits directly at least puts us in a party that can help with bandits, whereas the cairn job seems like we'd be going solo and would have to deal with the whole group by ourselves if we get attacked.

Also, the mage's guild REALLY isn't doing a whole lot to ingratiate us to them. I know we're not exactly impressive, but you'd think don't be an asshole would be a relatively low bar to clear.

I agree that we should stick with Sirna's plan. As for the three bounties, I'm thinking probably play it safe and go for the library one, possibly even splitting up - sending Miram to the library while we go with Sirna.

I'm in agreement with ScarKnight

additional notes though
Miram is our lifeline here, get her to stay behind and report Sirna to the mage's guild if we don't return. Hopefully the threat of that will keep us alive around Kip if she does turn violent. We should also leave our money with Miram so she has some funds to propel her fresh start if something goes wrong, and details like that might make the difference in Kip believing our kill switch is legitimate.
Miram can get more details on the library job while we're away with kip. With the reward price not being set she could likely get us a better bounty than we'd be able to manage anyway.

I'd be kind of concerned that they would just send someone to permanently "deal with" Miram if we tried that. And that's in addition to making us look more hostile than we necessarily need to be. Also, I want to train Miram up some, so I'd rather bring her along just on those grounds.

If we are setting up a dead-man's switch, which I'm not necessarily sure is the best option here, it might be better to ask one of the harpies that we came into town with, considering that, unlike Miram, they have no connection to us that would obviously paint a target on their back for Sirna to go after.

Rereading my comment I realized I should have been more clear. We should not let Kip know about our dead mans switch except as a last option if things turn violent and we can't get away by other means.
Also when setting up the switch we should make sure we don't have a room key on us. The key points directly to our inn room which would be the perfect place to start looking if you wanted to disarm miram.

I'm willing to split the party here, as we really need all the money that we can take, if we're ever going to settle in this place. So Miram will be tracking down a thief(hopefully not getting kill or eaten in the process), while we collect materials for Sirna. Then we'll help clear out the bandit, and get 'official' recognization from the one organizing the hunt. Then when we do the intiation, we also got more credits, and can at least ask Masrah why the clerk is very rude. And at most, tell her what she gave us. Cause I'm willing to bet 5 silvers pieces that she literally scammed us, and that there was more money for us, but being the miserable bitch she is, the clerk kept the money to herself.

I think having different fonts for each bounty is a neat little detail.

Loved this chapter! The visual of Miriam barely peeking over the lip of the tabel while Adrea has to duck down as she's talking to her made me chuckle, and I thought it was super cute.

I agree with most of what's been said already. We should float the idea with Miriam of us going with Kip tomorrow while she pursues the library job. We should also suggest the backup plan, of us leaving her with some of the money so she can take care of herself and telling her to notify the guild of the truth if we don't come back. How she feels about that should probably inform what we do. If she's against the idea and would rather just come with us to meet Kip, we can do that. But if she's okay with the idea I think that's the best course of action.

When it comes to how to handle the job with Kip tomorrow, I think we should be on guard as Trash Mammal & ScarKnight have said. Not making it obvious we don't trust her, but just being wary. We also shouldn't bring up the backup plan with Miriam at all unless it starts to look like we might not make it back. Best case scenario, we never even mention the backup plan with Miriam, but I feel it'll be a good card to have in case we do need to play it. Might make the difference between Kip leading us into a trap and her deciding it's not worth it. They'd probably end up going after Miriam afterwards too either way if the plan was to "deal with us" with this job, so it's not like we're putting her in any more danger than she'd already be in.

In the interests of being more careful considering how close came to disaster with Sirna, I think I'd vote against pursuing either of the bandit related quests, at least until we're more confident in Miriam's ability to hold her own in a fight. Besides, between Sirna, the library job and eventually more guild work, I think we've got room to pick & choose and not go after every single job we find.

I also agree with TrashMammal's side note. Suggesting we do that was a dumb idea on my part, and we're lucky it mostly worked out. It'll pay not to take risks like that in the future. I also think we should ask Mashrah what the deal is with the clerk next time we see her alone too, like Persona suggested.

Yeah, because so far it seems like either she is salty about something and taking her anger on anyone she can, she just a bitch in general, or she is classist/racist. I mean, we are in a mostly harpy city. No doubt there going to be some racist harpies that would say how humans are stupid creatures that can't even fly.
