Really, Twilight should've known better than to stick so close to Thorax after confirming that he'd become a ponyeater. Maybe it was the urge to take out those in the know, or maybe he really had just gotten a taste for ponies, but apparently he's bad at impulse control. Oh well, now Twilight and Rainbow can reunite, in a way. As for Thorax... Well, he'd better enjoy her before anyone else finds out about all of this!
