Tanaya Dara, or simply Tanaya as she appears in "Deeper" works as a Librarian during the day. Her occupation allows her ample time to indulge her fascination with history, language and world religions. At certain times of year, for those who know of it, she provides access to forbidden texts which she procures and keeps in a restricted section of the library. These texts are almost exclusively stories about women who swallow men whole by sucking them into their stomachs through their navels.

After discovering the black book of Ventrivoroth, Tanaya began searching for any mention of the strange magic throughout history and obtained anything she could get her hands on. She opens the Black Library on full moons and during Halloween and plays host for those interested in the macabre. For most of these individuals, she allows them to read stories about belly baring princesses, witches and lady genies who lure men to their doom inside their hungry belly buttons. For some, however, she indulges her own secret hobby and stuffs them headfirst into her own deep belly button, sucking them inside and gulping them down to be absorbed into her powerful body and used for both energy and nutrition.

Tanaya has a reserved demeanor most of the time. She can seem a bit superior and has a very articulate, yet seductive way of speaking, partially due to her nebulous accent. While working the regular library, she conducts herself professionally and keeps up appearances, but while hosting people in the Black Library, she openly flaunts her strength and makes it obvious that she wants to devour people with her navel. Those who visit should be warned that while the stories they read may be enticing, they may become the subjects of the next volume that sits on those dusty shelves.
