(INTERACTIVE SERIES)Midhorth Quest: Chapter 2

TARGA THE ORC BARBARIAN JOINED YOUR PARTY!

"Good, good," The orc smiles at you earnestly. "You made the right choice. I see you're a bit afraid, but don't worry: Targa here never eats companions."

You thank her and say you're relieved to know that she's trustworthy. She pats your back with more strenght than she probably realises:

"So, when we're going to start our journey? Oh, right now? No, it's alright with me. Traveling will be good exercize to help me digest this wench here," Targa slaps her belly vioently, making the bandit she ate scream louder. "Get yourself the bald guy's armor and give me my money. I'll get a poney for us in the tavern so we can start our trip."

You obey your new companion, giving her all the lewis and tolkiens you saved, then you go near the bald bandit's corpse. Taiga's ax hit him between the armor's plates, so luckily it wasn't damaged. It feels kinda creepy taking stuff from a dead guy, but it's not like he deserves a lot of respect.

YOU GOT CHEAP ARMOR!

It's weak and cheap, but it's better than nothing. It didn't save the bald guy from Taiga's fury, but it might save you one day. You remember that the female bandit had a dagger with her. Did your new friend eat it along its owner? No, you see it lying on the ground!

YOU GOT CHEAP SMALL DAGGER!

If push comes to shove, you can atleast protect yourself now. Better leave the fighting to Taiga, though. Speaking of her, she was returning with a poney big as far as poneys go.

"You look nice in armor! By the way, calling you shrimp all the time is going to make me hungry, so what's your name? Huh? Now that's a stupid fucking name!" Taiga laughed loudly. "Anyway, there's a trail near going through some grove near 'The Fat Poney'. There's no monsters and its usually where people start their adventures."

You tell Targa that its better that you two start there too and she agrees, so you and the orc woman guide your new poney to the grove trail.

"From here onwards you can ride the poney. Me? I'll go on foot for now. It'll help with the food."

And so your journey begins. Even though you are at the back of a poney, Taiga is as tall as you. Heck, she's taller than most orcs you know. That's probably because she's a predator, and a prolific one at that. Her body looks so hardened up by battles...

"What're you staring me at for? Never saw muscles in your life? Well, those are all made from people I ate, if that's what you're asking yourself. I first ate a full-grown human man when I was just a little lass of twelve!" At first Taiga seemed angry by your staring, but now she was nostalgic. "Gods, and to think that before that I looked as cute and shrimpy as you do now!"

You apogize for being impolite, and explain that you were just impressed by how strong she looked, and that you had no ill-intention.

"No problem, no problem. I was just trying to frighten you. A true barbarian is always impressive, even more so when she is beautiful like I am!" She boasted, showing more of her proud side.

As you keep going on down this trail, your eyes go down to Taiga's stretched belly. It's still moving, but more weakly. You can barely make out the bandit's cries from the loud sounds the stomach was making. Predators are truly next nevel.

After a good time walking, Targa stops and turns to you:

"It's getting too dark. Let's stop and build a fire so we can rest a little."

You agree, tying up your poney to a tree. Both of you gather some wood and Targa sets fire to it. You two sit near it and Targa lets out a satisfied sigh.

"I don't know why you want to defeat the Mother, but for me its all about the trip. I'm used to working alone, but I've got to admit that I missed traveling with humans. You guys are so weak and look so small and shy when I'm around! It's kinda...sweet? I don't knew, perhaps I'm just found of you guys. I ate more humans than I can count, but I never saw you as just food. Some predators are true psychopaths, but we orcs are just bigger and hungrier. If my belly growls I just scarf down some random person, and that might be weird for you, but for me? It's just nature following its course."

You tell her that you don't think that eating people is weird: au contraire, you think it's very cool, actually. Targa grins.

"The weird one is you, girl! Eating people is simply normal, nothing cool about it! Anyway, you remind me of my life as a mercenary in a human army. I was quite the troublemaker: once, I had to share a bed with a fellow soldier, and decided to trap him bellow the covers and let a huge one out (if you know what I mean). It was supposed to be a prank, but the poor guy straight up died! Other time, I accidently sat on the head of a soldier who was lying on his back. Died instantly."

You go pale and speechless after those tales of friendly-fire. Targa notices this and laughs a bit awkwardly.

"Don't worry, I was more of an air head back in the day. I won't sit on you or anything, promise! C-Changing subjects, I can feel that this bandit I ate is almost losing her willpower to stay alive. Guess I'll put her out of her misery and give you a little show of how strong I am at the same time!" Taiga focused and it looked like her stomach was starting to get more and more tight. Finally, she pressed her gut with her hands and you hear loud cracking sounds that make you blush. "She's gone now. Wait you really liked it, didn't you?"

You look away, a bit embarresed, but the you look Targa in the eyes and tell her that what she did just now was fucking awesome. She laughs, then makes the face of someone who just realized something. Targa punches her chest and:

"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUURP!" Let's out a powerful, manly belch that almost sends you flying. Your eyes are teary from the smell and you need to gather all of your strenght to avoid puking. "Arg, death belches are always so damn rotten! But you better get used to them...are you sick?"

You tell her you're alright, and she just laughs and pats you in the head, which makes you blush even more. She yawns and you sugest you both get some sleep. Targa snores loudly the entire night long, but somehow you manage to sleep soudly. You are awakened by her loud voice:

"Wake up, sleeping beauty! We got some adventuring to do!"

At first you don't want to get up, but a booming fart from the orc gets you up to your feet. She looks down on you with a grin, and you notice that her belly is much smaller now.

"Let's keep going on. Just wait a sec though, we gotta put out this fire," To your shock, Targa just lowers the bear skin she wore around her hips and squats near the fire, then takes a huge dump on it, extinguishing it. "Aaaaah, much better!"

The pile of shit is adorned by broken bits of bone that once belonged to a female bandit. You protest, a bit disgusted, but Targa is unashamed and dosn't understand what's so wrong about doing something so natural like relieving oneself. You just have to accept that orcs see things diferently than humans, and you both take the poney and press on: you on the animal's back and she still on her feet.

"Stop," She suddenly tells you. "Here, the path bifurcates. We gotta make a choice."

She was right. One path of the road led to the opening of some dark, scary woods. The other, to a old, creepy building that looked like some sort of temple with architecture you were unfamiliar with. So, your choice shall be:

A - Take the path to the dark, scary woods.
B - Take the path to the old, creepy temple

Vote by commenting the letter of the option you want to win! The pool will be over next week at the same day and hour this story is posted! Naturally, the option with the most comments wins, and in case of a draw, one more day will be added to decide!

In this series, the readers will control a videogame-like protagonist and decide their choices by answering a pool at the end of each chapter. Although it's a POV series, you don't need to think as if Adventurer is LITERALLY you if you don't want to. Think of them as a customizable visual novel protagonist!

On another note, I want to apologize for the time that passed without this chapter being posted. I was a bit down about this series, but now I'm more confident about it and will try to upload it more frequently!

I say B. Might meet a new member of the party, one just as gassy and voracious as Taiga.

A.

One note, I guess I just never noticed it in the last chapter but not writing dialogue for the protagonist feels pretty strange to me. I understand why you'd want to leave it open ended, but I think it could help the dialogue feel more natural to not just write one side of it. Just a thought anyway. I understand if you'd rather continue as-is.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I don't really plan on writing dialog for the protagonist, to give it more of a video game vibe, you know?
