I might have a vore variation on this eventually, but for now, here's the 3-hour product of this conversation:

-Brain: Draw Aerith

-Me: I need to sleep.

-Brain: Draw Aerith

-Me: I still haven't figured out my style, especially with faces, and I haven't drawn on the computer since I was a kid.

-Brain: Draw Aerith

-Me: I don't have a tablet, I'd be using a mouse.

-Brain: Draw Aerith...

-Me: I really need to sleep...

-Brain: You have tomorrow off work; you can sleep in. Draw Aerith.

-Me: ...*sigh*

Honestly, don't worry about style and junk so much. Style isn't really something you actively pursue right away, it's like...

= 3= Style is a power up, like Super Saiyan. You need to practice the basics of martial arts first, and eventually you will unlock a 'style' that will help you create certain kinds of art with that style. But also, you don't always need to use that style when making art if you don't feel like you need it. And you can always improve that style, or have more than one style depending on what the situation calls for.

=o Another way to think about it is that a 'style' is your limit break. Different people can improve their limit breaks in different ways, but you need to be able to at least use regular attacks and maybe some magic or skills first!

Anyways, I'm mostly rambling. = w= Stay strong.

Heh, I hope it's not like a Limit Break. A boss battle's worth of pain for one good drawing, and back to square one?
Okay, now that my stupid jokes are out of the way... The problem is mostly just the facial curve and the eyes. I can get everything else fine (I drew this with a mouse), but that eludes me.

What are you using for references? If a certain thing is giving you trouble then try focusing on studying that part more. Possibly just fill a page with just practice drawings of that. (Yes I know you're doing digital art, but the point still stands. XD)

Kinda what I've been doing lately, but thanks. I've been experimenting and studying different types of sketches lately, something I hope will become more apparent as I draw more.

Ah, okay. I thought you might be trying to study and imitate a particular style or something. I actually tried drawing a lot of characters in the Dissidia Opera Omnia style in the past, but the weird anatomy was at times a bigger burden than helpful. XP

Oh, gotcha. No, I can actually mimic a fair number of styles almost perfectly. I've been hoping to eventually ditch references entirely so I can do my own recognizable thing.

Oh, you'll never ditch references entirely. They will always be useful. You can still pursue a style even while using references though.

Okay, that was poor phrasing. I meant I would be able to get angles the pics don't supply, using my own practice and intuition.

By the way, if you want to keep discussing the art, I'd recommend PMing me. My phone is running out of... width.

Sorry, I'm a villain. That was my plan all along, feel my wrath!
