As with all of the Tiny Hungering Vulpines forms, Breeder Vixens and Keeper Vixens fill very different roles, but roles which are none the less complimentary. While some consider this an evolved trait, with the various SwarmFox strains evolving to work together on a biological scale, and other consider the entire process a fully conscious decision by the TVH herself manifesting physically in her bodies, the true answer lays vaguely somewhere between the two.
More versatile then Sister Vixens, Breeder Vixens are larger and can not only mate with males to extract genetic information, but hold the ability to both fertilise her eggs with said material and then lay the many resulting fertilised vulpine eggs in hosts using an ovipositor to ensure the eggs needs are met. The trade-off for this form's size, vocal skills and dextrous paws is it's energy consumption and time for growth. As such Breeder Vixens start being used as the swarming is on an increasing trend, and often marks the point where explosive growth in SwarmFox numbers begins.
Keeper Vixens, however, typically mark the maturing of a swarming process. These SwarmFoxes are some of the largest forms the THV may take and typically fill two purposes: Organic storage, and efficient resource processing. The stomach of a Keeper Vixen is able to put prey into a deep suspended stage, keeping the victim helpless and docile. Nobody is quite sure just how long one might survive in a Keeper Vixen, but some reasonable myths talk of over a thousand years, some over ten thousand. The more outlandish say hundreds of thousands or even millions of years as being possible. In any case many civilisations that are consumed by the Tiny Hungering Vulpine end up little more the bulged in unending piles of Keeper Vixens all snuggled together, with such piles being called by V herself as her Pantries. Over the decades, one by one, the keeper vixens process the prey, and provide the resulting nutrients among all SwarmFoxes as milk, in a state of dormancy until another civilisation grows to the point of her feasting on them. It is worth noting that most prey will often be roused and released, purely in order to be used to spawn more vulpines.
When used together, Breeder Vixens can place eggs within prey, only for the prey to be immediately consumed by a Keeper Vixen. While seemly an odd decision, this enables the Keeper Vixen to cough up the prey in the future if a sudden and urgent need for new swarms comes, with the gestating eggs grown and ready for release upon exit.

I love the idea of a prey getting bred/eaten and then suddenly come to getting coughed out a century later just to be used again. This is a really creative species.
