Several years ago, before I started drawing, I had an idea to make a shamelessly fetishistic 50’s B-movie poster through collage, an image that’d absolutely get you arrested if you displayed it in public in the 50’s. To this day I reckon the end result looks pretty good. But I am one of them there drawists these days, so I took it on myself to remake it.

Attack of the 50ft Woman’s poster was a big inspiration, perhaps obviously. It’s no doubt the most famous poster in the history of B-movies. Indeed, it’s up there as one of the most iconic film posters of all time. It began an entire generations size fetish and how could it not? It’s a fantastic film poster and piece of art in its own right (even though she’s clearly well over 50ft on the poster, although that’s a bit like complaining that you got too many Christmas presents).

Here's the thing about the film itself…

It’s boring as fuck. Holy shit it’s so boring. 90% of the film is staring at her rigour-rigid papier mâché hand, she only goes on a rampage in the last 5 minutes, which basically amounts to more of a gentle stroll. Am I expecting too much from a 1950’s no-budget B-movie? Maybe, but keep in mind Godzilla kicked off around the same time in Japan.

If you’re looking for an American 50’s B-movie about a giant, The Amazing Colossal Man is streets ahead, even though the titular colossal man spends the entire movie being a giant (heh) crybaby.

I imagine this being the kind of 50's B-movie that got an ultra-gory remake in the 80's.
