Ungyllan minotaurs are not only predatory but obligate anthropophages, being incapable of digesting anything but human flesh, however, they make snakes look like they're constantly eating. A grown minotaur often goes seven years between meals, though when she finally gets hungry, she can consume over a dozen humans in a sitting.

During the long periods between meals, minotaurs are gentle, kind and exceptionally wise and cultured, with a languid elegance that belies their rippling muscles, but when hunger hits, it does do suddenly and completely, essentially turning her into a savage beast incapable of recognizing even the closest human friend or lover as anything but a source of food. Generally, a few months before the seven-year anniversary of her last meal, a minotaur voluntarily locks herself in a labyrinth with ten to twenty humans that either volunteered to feed her or are criminals who were sentenced to death, plus sufficient non-perishable food to last the humans until she eats them. Once a minotaur gorges herself silly, she'll sleep it off for close to an entire season, absorbing every single ounce of her meal in the process, not wasting so much as one precious calorie of human flesh, blood, and bone. Even between meals, minotaurs sleep a lot to conserve energy.

Minotaurs always have feminine curves, but purely male genitalia, requiring human women to reproduce. However, only a handful of a minotaur's children will be new minotaurs, with most being humans, albeit particularly hale and hearty humans that have some of the strength and lazy grace of their bull-headed sires.

For those rare human women capable of bearing minotaur children, such pregnancies are short, difficult and dangerous for the mother. Though she doesn’t need human flesh, nor will she crave it, a woman carrying a minotaur must eat vast quantities of red meat over the next six weeks to feed her rapidly growing daughter, and in the last trimester can safely sleep for no longer than an hour at a time because if she goes any longer without eating, there’s a considerable risk the monstrous babe in her womb will get hungry enough to begin eating her from within.
