A guardian is one who protects. Protecting life, protecting a home, these are tenets to live by. They hope that under their protection, growth will happen alongside safety and comfort. Many unknowns threaten all of these things, and therefore a guardian must be wary. Yet the unknown is not always dangerous. It may simply be innocence dressed up in an unfamiliar form. Do existing prejudices, suspicions and thoughts stand in the way of telling one from the other? Does a guardian stand by their faith and belief, keeping true to their duty no matter what, or do they look at the unfamiliar as something to bring into the fold? Is there an opportunity or a danger standing there, asking to be let in?
Here's a new slice-of-life piece for you all to enjoy! I'm honestly very, very happy with how this flowed and came about, and it was surprisingly very easy to keep this going once I started rolling.
This is a worldbuilding piece done as a gift for ASaneMan, who has been kind enough to let me write for him before! His pirate captain kitsune, Kea,is our main character here, though several other characters of his make appearances, as do a couple of my own.
I'd like to extend my thanks out to ASaneMan for his support in allowing me to write these pieces, as it's been a great joy to get to build up and extend the foundations of a world he's already set, along with fantastic characters like Kea.
Enjoy, and do let me know your thoughts!
Hythe and its inhabitants are creations of ASaneMan and belong to him. They're used with his permission.
For reference, these are two excellent pics of what Kea looks like throughout the story:
