Emilia and Rem can occasionally take their vying for Subaru’s affection too far. After witnessing them each swallow down a person whole, a terrified Subaru makes an off the cuff remark about being impressed with their eating abilities. Mistaking his disingenuous praise for both an endorsement and an appreciation for their voracious actions, the half elf and the oni make a contest out of eating as many people as they can. The prize: further praise from their beloved Subaru.

After gulping down multitudes of unlucky prey, the two lovesick maidens discover two unfortunate facts: One, they have somehow tied in their predatory competition. And two, Subaru has left and will not return to the mansion until later that day. They decide to sit down to rest and digest together, but digesting such a large quantity of people inevitably leads to gas buildup in their bloated stomachs. And there’s only one way to relieve such pressure: monstrously huge burps!

Emilia has heard Rem belch many times in the past (and vice versa), but they’ve never been quite this loud before. The foul air rushes past her face and causes her hair to flutter as if in a storm. Were they in the company of others, such a drastic violation of etiquette would leave the maid blushing and excusing herself. But with just the two of them, Emilia knows that they don’t need to hold anything back. She grins and takes the opportunity to sarcastically admonish Rem’s manners, all while preparing to break their earlier stalemate…
