Javeria Hinchada was just an average anthropological grad student until her research took her to the Temple of the Cult of Gula. It was there that she uncovered an artifact, a small figurine of a voluminous woman with a bloated belly. This figure turned out to be a depiction of the spirit of gluttony, Gula.

The spirit chose Javiera to be her avatar and granted her a host of supernatural and magical abilities. She became the symbol of Gula’s justice, devouring all who would harm the innocent, magically or otherwise. She used her new powers to become the Maw and defend her city and the world from crime and from the influence of Gula’s jealous sister, Invidia, the spirit of Envy. Here we see Javi finishing off some of Invidia’s minions after a recent attack on the city.
