Overall theme is a Human is looking for someone to play D&D with in-person (5th edition mostly, though there's options for the other Editions, as well as the Pathfinder and Starfinder games, along with other TTRPGs). The group that they find is filled with Monster Players, as the existence of the Monster World was exposed at some point prior - turns out, there's plenty that like TTRPGs, and have over the years, made their own spin-offs, like Dungeons and Monsters. One of the things they got is Immersion Mode, where the Players control the Characters themselves, and basically are the Characters, which leads to craziness.

In the Matt Thompson thread, Matt is a police officer, who plays D&D with his brother Ken, who has Special Needs (Downes/ Autism/ ADHD/ whatever), as a form of Therapy, as well as enjoyment. Sally is a Monster police officer that, due to an exchange program of sorts, is assigned to be Matt's partner on the force - she loves playing the Bad Cop in interrogations.

After one group turns out (and then into) a Bust, Matt's forced to find another group. Sally gets a lead on a Monster group, one run by a DM who had a brother that plays, who also has Special Needs. Will this group be what Matt's looking for?
