Once know as one of the world’s more lethal and efficient assassins, Viper’s (real name Asuga UetaKage) entire life changed when she was assigned her target, a mysterious club owner and mogul. This mogul happened to be a member of the cult of Gluttony and the spirit of wine and revelry Dionysus. Asuga found herself falling hard for Dionysus and she was swiftly recruited into the cult. Dionysus taught her how to tap into her inner pred and she now uses her skills to devour and digest the wicked, purging them from evil in the process while they reform anew.

Along with her lover Dionysus, she is assisted on missions by her mentor Mareena and her technical and magical support Elise. While the Maw tackles more magical and superhuman threats, Asuga, now know and the Starving Shadow takes on more criminal and underground enemies of the cult
