I don’t have a lot of followers, and I should probably have more since I’ve been here for more than ten years. Sometimes it’s pointed out to me that I don’t have many followers, rather rudely at times. Normally I wouldn’t care, but it does bug me from time to time.

However, today I conversed with a new friend via Discord, and he told me that he “really enjoyed” talking to me. Apparently, our talk was the best he had had in a while. I am truly grateful for that.

So, it is true that I have a small amount of followers, but I truly find it more satisfying to have encounters such as these. Thank you all for the story suggestions. Not only did I write a couple pieces, but I managed to make some new friends as well. These are lovely, creative people and I’m glad to know them.

I have some work that I’m completing now. Perhaps I will finish those first before taking on anything else. I tend to give myself more stories to write before finishing the old ones, so it might be best to wait a little while. Then again, I’m always happy to receive new ideas that light me up, making me want to write more and more. Either way, new works are bound to come around.

So, thoughts of suicide have come up.

Before I begin, I am not going to attempt suicide. I repeat, I will not be attempting suicide. Still, the idea has come up during this dark time. Sometimes I think of it, and for just a few seconds, it gives me a little peace. I mean, I feel like I am in charge again, not my pain. My pain has power, but this time, I have the most power, and I can decide if I want to die than continue to live a life of pain.

So, here’s one problem I have with believing the aforementioned statement: If I have the power to kill myself and I go through with the act, how does that benefit me? In death, you feel nothing whatsoever. There is no pain, but there is no relief either. You can’t even feel the shift between pain and relief once you drop...

So, obviously this year hasn’t gotten off to an ideal start. Awful shit has already happened to me, and probably the rest of you too. You don’t even have to turn on the television to see that we have a lot of work ahead of us.

But, that’s the trick, isn’t it? It’s all work. Work is something you have to get done so you can have what you want, and the work is often ugly. You get dirtied up along the way, you hold your face and cry, and you feel like you need to punch someone in the face. It can all be very ugly, but it has to be done.

My advice would be to not give up so quickly. Others are making jokes about 2021 being a bust, and that we should abandon ship. I don’t know exactly how they would leave 2021, but even if they figured out a way, why would you go? It...
