nomad update 25 50% done Posted 7 years ago
Just an announcement that the project is ticking away. And a reminder this is a double width update which means two months, and we're roughly on schedule for having one normal update's worth of content.

part 1 contains:
Reformation technology support
Omnico dungeon overhaul
Ship shield framework
Ship weapon framework
fix for docking to work
Crafting screen improved
Unified tech skills
Wyverns
15 new scenes (20% guest content)

part 2 will contain:
more stuff, including 12 more scenes by me, and further improvements to omnico and zorr.
Nomad: Imminent release and plans for update 22 Posted 8 years ago
Good news gentlemen!

Update 21 is nearly complete: I just need to complete two more smut scenes + convert a guest contribution to dialogue file form and it'll be ready to ship. So, one week, maybe two, maybe sooner than that.

This update is by content alone I think the biggest one I've done. 4 player as prey scenes, 5 player as pred scenes. lot of scenes.

But enough about the news of rejoicing. I have also begun planning for update 22.

Core to the update will be the combat overhaul and the addition of the stamina or action meter. Yes, that's going in, to add more depth to the combat which is currently about as deep as a michael bay script.

Secondary will be the 2nd dungeon overhaul. which bears some explaination. Before this...

a vision of things to come Posted 8 years ago

addendum:

may as well mention things that must still be done for update 20.

last of the 5 player as pred CV scenes.
player sex with batgirl
player absorption by batgirl post sex cause that was a stupid plan
player unbirthed by saurian warrior needs finishing (technically playable but the last 3-4 nodes are empty of text)

So, nomad update 19 came out to not much in the way of applause. But I went and carried on with update 20, i mean i have a tool to keep me working on nomad at least a little each day may as well take advantage of it (it reminds me if i dont login to the list and tick off the 'i worked on nomad' box for the day).

Some things that may be part of the new update:

seduction rework making seduction a much more flexible and powerful way of defeating your foes.
melee sweep move (periodically players keep on saying they get mobbed by enemies and rekt'd and there's nothing they can do, a melee sweep or spin attack would do wonders to at least give players a way of handling it)
pheremone attack move (seduction is overrated when you can just simply SMELL SEXY) ...

Nomad, the path not travelled. Posted 8 years ago
So. I'm going to assume that you've either seen the talking head project or are about to. But it was what prompted this retrospective thought back to when I initially planned the project Nomad.

To the surprise of no one the game that got made didn't resemble the draft. I've always been interested in procedural generation, this is no secret and is born partially of the way it tends to play out (procedural generation like AI can lead to some entertainingly unexpected results) and partially out of the fact that it's hard to get good help these days.

The original idea was to create a vast galaxy using procedural generation. Sort of elite meets ovrl, or space odyssey with a more rogue ish rpg interface and single person focus. And I could of probably done it. there's...

Nomad, motivation dip, progress Posted 8 years ago
I honestly didn't work on nomad at all for two weeks. But towards the end of that time an odd thing happened. I read the voregon trail thread and thought the idea was worth pursuing so I started it as a diversion to make my own take on it.

Then I promptly dropped the voregon trail project as it was easier to work with the extant nomad code base and managed to finish the first segment of update 19. As the update log is going to be silly long I will spoiler and post it here for part A of update 19.

Added control references to intro
Added rest button
Add crash site alpha minoris IIA
Add describer to the caves on alpha minoris IIA
Add crash site alpha minoris II
Fix for slot screen scrollbar
Less nonsensical kinetic criticals ...

nomad, planning and time management Posted 8 years ago
So safe to say I've somewhat adapted to working for a living. Though my energy levels aren't what they were and my time is greatly reduced.

I also committed mentally to making update 19 contain well, a lot of stuff. And this paradoxically led to me getting less done as there was so much on the list I spent more time thinking about what bit to work on than working on it. So after realizing my folly I've split the update my side for organizational purposes. It's still going to be update 19, it's still going to be released all at once when it's eventually ready. But I'm splitting it into three separate lists and effectively 3 updates two of which wont get released:

A. the quickslot, and some more alpha minoris II content
B. alpha minoris III content part 1 (new...

so tired, forget deadlines Posted 8 years ago
Not even 4 days into my new job. so tired, not enough energy to make progress on nomad. game might be largely on hold until my energy levels rise enough that each day at work doesn't leave me zonked out of my skull. If there was any hope of large and or frequent updates to the game please downsize them now as that aint bloody happening.
