On the world of Terra, in past times, there was a fatal disease that spread throughout all of Terra striking down anyone with an Y chromosome. The disease has been fought against and finally vanquished from Terra, but not without leaving concern for future of Terra. The cure to vanquish that said disease left a side effect which made it very difficult for women to give birth to babies with Y chromosomes thus making Terra heavily populated
