Are you referring to the following part - little play to get out of any...inconvinient consequences, I'd say that worked quite the treat.
So alastor has charisma amd manipulation mastered.
Being caught not only eatting deerie but also almost eatting Vaggie in that state he had to do some quick damage control, by showing hesitation and putting on behavioural traits like regret and embarrassment its allowed him to trick Vaggie into believing and forgiving him.
There are some parts where he is embarrassed or awkward that are real yet some thats put on as part of the show ;)

Enjoyed this a lot. Deerie kind of deserved this. I had imagined what it would've been like if Alastor had met Deerie, another deer. Given his cannibalistic nature this is not surprising. It was satisfying seeing her eaten. Loved the use of details, it's perfect.
