It's Eevee day, so here's something I threw together. It can be seen as a spiritual successor to the Terrestia story, dealing with similar concepts.
There are those humans who wish to become pokemon. It seems there's a new threat to the world that thinks that pokemon can benefit from absorbing humanity... figuratively AND literally. On the day before and the day the crisis starts, we focus on one close pair...

I like that you incorporated changes in game mechanics over the years as a story elements. Also, the partner dynamic here was fun!
