Being an all-powerful, soul-feeding lich has its perks. One of which, of course, is being able to scare people (or in this case food) into doing exactly what you want it to. Alledine just has to flash an image of the horrifying fate that awaits whoever's in her mouth, and they'll practically jump down her throat to escape it.
Of course, they haven't escaped anything in the end~
