what has this thing been through? what have they seen, felt, heard, lost? they barely react to the world around them, only long enough to determine a target and eliminate it. there's nothing left inside this person but quiet hatred for people and concepts already long dead and blown away from this place. there's no longer a reason for this person. they're just still here despite it all.

I feel like there are a few characters in fiction everyone silently agrees will simply never be prey, or would absolutely annihilate any would-be pred that might eat them.
Off the top of my head the list includes Kratos and Doomguy. But the Courier is likely there as well.

I'm like 95% convinced that this Courier is a Marked Man from the Lonesome Road DLC, either that or this is the metaphysical consequences of a player finishing the game and leaving the person they controlled completely dead inside.

Some said the Courier was a ghost. Others thought it the Reaper made flesh. All agreed it wasn't human. Its breath rattled and hissed through its mask like winds through the valley of death. Its eyes were empty windows on a house long abandoned. It smelled like embalming fluid, smoke, and dried blood, as though it had stepped right out of a morgue.
It was a hollow, frightful thing, and wherever it wandered, death was sure to follow.
(This art was so inspiring, I just HAD to write a little something!)
