"There is a simple principle in alchemy..."

Maven, while a very attentive student, wasn't really paying attention. They'd heard this exact speech from their teacher before. They assumed it was a result of them being Stank's first ever students, but a good excuse didn't make it any more gripping. Absentmindedly, the squirrel-cat's tail swayed as they looked at the unlabeled ingredients before them.

"...reproducible results! The same factors, the same ingredients, the same processes...produce the same results! This is the basis of a formula. Without..."

Stank paced behind, the slightly older skunk furfolk and second-string adventurer blissfully continuing his ramble. His pupil's eyes drifted away from the unknown elements to the various wall hangings. Confusing pictures, caution signs, a small chalk board of specific warnings...any new addition was quickly added to Maven's mental checklist, while the rest passed without notice. For all the alchemist's talk, sometimes it really felt as though the mixtures were more magic than science. After all, the biggest possible proof for a null hypothesis to the skunk's 'reproducible results' theory...

"...not simply about magic. Magic is a mere ingredient! Ultimately, it is about management. Thus, we will be using known elements and demonstrating how precise balance will create..."

...was Danny. The half-fennec who was eagerly pouring two of the ingredients together in his mixing bowl. Two that seemed very familiar...like on a chalkboard.

Uh-oh.

Maven leapt away, both students' eyes fixated on the combination about to occur. The squirrel-cat had a hypothesis of their own: nothing was ever predictable. Not with the three of them.

"...nothing can possibly go wrong with these steps!"

Had a short burst of artistic energy, and I've been trying not to let any of it go to waste. So I looked at an old list of ideas I wanted to commission and...well, I decided to do them myself! (Full resolution is on my Discord server, let me know if you're interested in joining.)

The early days, before the Heartland Milk Resistance was formed...before some of the party had even arrived in Lark, I'm sure. Young Maven and Danny met under the tutelage of Stank, the main furfolk (or "otherkin", as kobolds called them) alchemist. I thought it'd be fun to have some art commemorating their, uh...volatile mixture.
