Rachel woke up as the rising sun began to shine through the office window. She waved her hand around looking for some surface to help herself up with, and, once she had grabbed the nearest desk, slowly worked her way to her to her feet. She needed to get something in her; the hunger was beginning to come back very violently, imploring her to consume the nearest source of food.

Rachel unwrapped another granola bar and began snacking on it at her desk. It seemed that she always was snacking on something these days, and with good reason. It had been two weeks since Rachel had devoured her roommate, and ever since she had been making sure to not have a repeat performance by making sure to keep plenty of food around at all times. She even went so far as to start buying whole roasted chickens from the grocery store whenever she got a craving to swallow something whole.

Rachel slammed the cabinet door shut. It was the third time that month that her roommate, Theresa, had cleared out all of the food in their apartment. Knowing Theresa, she had probably just gotten paranoid about bugs getting in the food. As strange as it sounds, she had a horrible phobia ever since she baked cookies as a child without checking the three-year-old flower first, and since then had been determined that bugs were crawling over any food older than a couple of weeks.
