In this comic, Cordula comes across an interesting discovery near the shore - lobster traps! After waiting patiently, she is rewarded when the trapper returns to the scene. Although her victim would probably disagree, Cordula considers turnabout fair play.
-
Cordula was taking an easy swim some distance up the shoreline from her adopted human village one night when she came across an interesting discovery. The underwater landscape had been altered drastically from when she had last passed by the area. Even the shore was different. Such things were not unheard of in Felarya. Indeed, sometimes vast stretches of land and ocean disappeared, only to be replaced by new, exotic environments.
What made this one special was what she saw under the water. Someone had set out several small wooden traps that smelled absolutely delicious. Inside the traps she could see tiny, struggling lobsters. Tempting as it was to dine on such a tasty catch, she decided instead to wait and see who would come collect the traps. While she would never consider preying upon those she knew from the village of Homari, other people were not so fortunate. Especially since she was out by herself. If Inia or one of the others were with her - Cordula shook her head. They were not present and that was that.
Gliding smoothly through the water, she moved behind an outcropping of rock and waited, her antennae swaying slightly in the ocean current. Her hunger grew as time passed. Dawn broke across the ocean and still she waited. She had just about made up her mind to eat what had been caught in the traps and move on when her antennae detected a small boat making its way towards her position. Her excitement grew when, a short while later, a human dove from the boat into the water. He headed straight for the traps ... and her.
With a lazy smile on her face, Cordula moved forward, scooping the startled human up in her hand. She then rose toward the surface to examine her catch. From his appearance, she already knew he was not from the village. Perfect.
Breaking free from the water, her antennae drooped in the salty air as she brought the human up to her mouth. Her heavily lidded-eyes never left his form. He smelled delicious. When his hands touched her wet lips, hunger took over; she extended her long, prehensile tongue, rapidly coiling it around his body. Before he had a chance to protest, she slurped him into her mouth. A moment later and she swallowed with a dainty gulp. A tiny bulge descended her throat to mark her victim's passage. The long wait had been worth it. Patience was truly a virtue, as the fishers from her often said. She briefly regretted not tasting her prey more. However, her stomach did not complain about receiving such a hasty meal. Perhaps next time she would indulge herself a little longer.
Sighing in contentment, she slowly rolled back in the water, keeping her face just above the surface. There were still the traps full of lobsters to consider. She would empty one for herself, leaving a couple to take back with her to Homari. The villagers could dine on the lobsters, while saving the traps for use later.
Her eyes fell upon the now vacant boat drifting nearby. She smiled. It would make a nice gift for Inia. Her human friend had been complaining about her own leaky boat needing repairs. It would not be the first time Cordula had brought back things she had found out on the open water or washed up on the shore. It was amazing the strange things one could find out in the ocean.
She remembered once she had taken Inia with her on a pleasurable swim. The two had come across something called a tour boat. The disabled vessel was packed with frightened humans, strangers one and all. It had not been easy for the lobster girl to keep her instincts in check after Inia insisted on helping the people. After reassuring them of her intentions, Cordula had towed the boat all the way back to Homari. Unfortunately, not one of the people they saved had stayed for very long in the village. Despite the danger, they all departed to some other, larger inland city that Cordula could not recall the name of. It was such a shame. Still, helping them had made Inia happy and that was well worth the loss of a few scrumptious morsels. Stretching her arms out in the water, she closed her eyes, enjoying the motion of the waves against her body and the warm sun on her skin. Life was good.

Yep, that's one of the things I liked best. Well, that and the pants slipping down the poor guy endures after she scoops him up.
