Felecia and David, the tiny figures standing on top of one of Stephandra’s roots, have come together before the enormous dryad to take their wedding vows. A pack of giant wolves is present to witness the occasion, with one of the younger members howling his approval. The young couple met and fell in love two years prior, quite by accident, when Felecia inadvertently saved her future husband-to-be from being attacked by a roving pack of Stephandra’s wolves.

Felecia is very special to the dryad - the two have shared a link with one another since the slug-girl was but an infant. The link allows them to share emotions, thoughts, and even dreams with one another. Felecia looks to Stephandra as the mother she never knew. For her part, the dryad is fiercely protective of Felecia, treating her as she would her own daughter. To anyone other than Felecia, the dryad is usually aloof, taciturn, and downright unfriendly.

Stephandra is unbelievably ancient and powerful, having lived in the Howling Forest for years beyond counting. She, along with her wolves, is the forest's protector and, at least according to David, she is tied into every facet of life within it. The forest is quite literally an extension of her will. Shrouded in obscuring fog, nestled in a grove of towering trees, she prefers to remain alone with her wolves and her thoughts. Other than Felecia and David, only a handful of souls have ever delved deeply enough into the forest to encounter her and survive. Fewer still would willingly return. And though her mood has improved over the years, thanks in no small part to Felecia's unwavering kindness and compassion, the Howling Forest to this day still reflects her dark and forbidding nature.

Stephandra was introduced in All Is Not As It Seems. She plays a major role in In The Belly Of The Beast (two parts). She is also either mentioned or appears briefly in several other stories.
