It was dawn. A hint of the sun had just begun to saturate the horizon. The sky was pink and pale, and there were a few high wispy clouds. A boy dipped his feet in the water, but it was too cold to go in yet. He toyed with a shell, tilting it from side to side to catch it's iridescent blue-pink glimmer. 
He waited, watching his toes be consumed again and again by the gentle frothy tide. He looked up every once in a while, gazing into the distance.
