The sun was setting over the ocean, and breeze was cool and crisp. The stone floor was cold, but the smell of cooking fish and the crackle of the fire attested to the presence of someone new to the island. The young girl had kindled a fire with a flint from her bag and what drift wood she found just outside the cave on the beach. As the aroma of the cocked fish grew in the relatively confined space she thought over all the events that brought her here.

She knew that she had been on a trip of some kind, but the girl couldn't remember why or who see was with. The first thing she could recall was the sudden chill from the ocean hit her as she clung to a life ring. After what seemed hours the whale had arrived. The whale that had literally eaten her. However for some reason the whale released her and had brought her food, and the whale was gone again for what seemed like hours. The actions baffled the girl. She of course new all the children stories and had a small childs fear of monsters, but this one acted very strangely. Suddenly the monster appeared from beneath the shallow waters of the cave.

Sheila once again cautiously approached the shallow waters not wanting to give the girl another fright, however upon surfacing Sheila noticed that the girl only seemed to flinch and slowly back away. "Well thats and improvement" she thought. The whale then began to disgorge the contents of her stomach, which she found alarmingly difficult due to the odd shapes of her cargo.

The girl hadn't been surprised this time, after all this was probably the whales lair, it had to return sooner of later. She only flinched when the beast appeared from the waters and backed up slowly in a cautious manner one who give to any animal with strange tenancies. Then suddenly the whale started to dry heave. The girl thought the whale must have brought someone else to the cave for whatever purpose, however what the monster regurgitated actually surprised her. It was luggage! "But why would it bring that?" she thought. After the fourth bag dropped to the shallow water the whale once again receded into the depths. After a moment the girls curiosity got the best of her and she quickly pulled the cases from the water and explored the contents. She quickly found many sets of cloths for both men and women. In addition there was a a sleeping bag far to large for her, but that didn't matter when survival was all that was important. The girl got so lost in going thru the baggage she only remembered her meal when she smelled it starting to burn. She rushed to the fire and quickly pulled out the stick on which she had skewered the large fish, but it was to late. With the fish blackened to the bone she cast it aside and thought that it was fortunate that the whale had dropped her so many fish.

Sheila didn't hesitate after dropping off her cargo to leave in search of a meal. "FINNALLY!" she thought. It was sunset and she hadnt had a thing to eat yet. At least nothing she could keep. After she was no longer truly hungry Sheila took her time gorging herself a bit enjoying a fun stomach and the many squirms of the various fish within her as her body could finally go to work. After and hour or two she slowly drifted back into the cave to check on the girl. Upon surfacing Sheila noted that the girl was sleeping in what appeared to be a large cloth sack. The whale was glad that the girl had found items of use in the bags, she also took not of several cloth garment laying on a stone pedestal at the side of the cave. The little girl was laying on her side facing the pool of water. Sheila took some time studying the human, in particular her face. For some reason the girls face was strangely familiar. Sheila could not understand why. She had never seen any humans before, so why was this any different? For that matter why had she felt concern for the girl's well being? Why did she continue to want to care for the girl now that she was out of immediate danger?" These questions and more continued to fill her head until she fell asleep halfway submerged in the warm water.
