Kevin and Linda paddled their way across the lake, enjoying the early spring breeze. The snow had receded, the wind smelled of flowers blooming, and bird's songs filled the air. Kevin, with a mischievous grin, used his paddle to splash Linda's back. Before long, the children resorted to using their paddles as weapons in the water fight, regardless of the beauty around them. The rocking of the tussle was amplified as Kevin stood up in the small vessel.

"Kevin! Don't tip the boat!&qu

Several weeks passed. Sheila, Linda, Jeremy, and Kevin made their way north. River, still grieving Rachel's death, had pointed the group in the direction of the nearest body of water near a human settlement before taking flight. The nights kept getting colder as they made their way north. Most of the work was done by Sheila; normally she would carry the humans on her back or in her hand when she wanted to talk privately. Winter was setting in and the the white plastic outfits the trio wore

"Linda!" cried Sheila as she started at a run, past Rachel, Jeremy, and Kevin, and towards the little girl in the palm of the dragon.

"Sheila? Oh no, what happen to you?!?" asked Linda, surprised by her caretakers appearance. River held out the girl to the oncoming orca-taur. When she was in arms reach, Sheila snatched the small girl from the dragon's hand and held Linda to her cheek in a miniature hug, mindful of the girl fragility. Linda returned the ges

 "Hello River."

River held up one finger as a sign to wait, opened her mouth and pulled out the still slumbering girl, who was now starting to wake.

"You didn't eat the girl?" asked the woman rather surprised.

"I didn't eat you." responded the dragon. "Linda, this is Rachel."

"Hello Rachel." said Linda still a bit groggy. "What happened to you face?"

 Rachel rea

"Hello..." said an ominous seductive voice ?I guess you?re my little snack...?

"Who's there?" Linda asked as fear crept into her mind.

"You speak." The voice said. "They have never given me food that speaks before. It usually those weak human like beings wrapped in white, but they never speak to me, they don't even struggle. But you, human. Why would they give you to me?"

 The girl was dumbfounded "I... I don't

Linda continued working on the questionnaire. It seemed to take forever. 'Why would anyone want to know this much about a person?' she thought to herself. Most of the questions seemed rather bizarre and had no relation that she could find to each other. After what seemed like the thousandth question was answered the same melodramatic voice said "Congratulations Test subject 86619Alpha3 for completing the entry level Test subject Questionnaire. Please Wait. A Paranormal genetics associ

Linda woke up to white. Everything was white. Sitting up didn't change anything. The room she was in was pure white all around, containing only a bed about three feet off the ground. It too was white. The girl also found that she was dressed in a white plain outfit made of some sort of thin plastic. Linda spent what seemed like hours inspecting the walls, in search of a door. If there was one, It was far too seamless to been seen of felt. Almost soundlessly a panel in front of the girl sli
