"This forest is my kingdom. Its inhabitants are my subjects. If they disagree with me, they become my dinner. This is how it works here."
Yes, something not MLP related. However, it's from another fandom: Pokemon.
Dion - short for Dionaea - is the ruler of a kingdom of grass Pokemon in the forest. He is an efficient, yet strict ruler - almost a tyrant. He rules over his subjects and often eats them; as a result, he has gained a significant amount of weight.
When it comes to his kingdom, Dion does not tolerate any intruders. He has his subjects accost any intruders and bring them to his castle for punishment (AKA snack time for him). He also does not like any Serperiors besides him - except for his mate and daughters. Any sons he has he devours before they become Serperiors.
Do not mention his weight to him, or you'll end up adding to it. He doesn't show much reaction, but he can go from annoyed to irritated to infuriated very quickly.
I may start a small comic series with this guy, but no guarantees. I do RP with him, though...

hmmm wonder if he has any respect at all for any of the legendary pokémon, or would just view them as a delicacy to be eaten as soon as he learns of their presence in his forest?

hmmm, im curious, what does he do if a trainer happens to come across his little village?

Yes, Dion eats his sons. Can't have another male Serperior to compete with.
Provided they don't try capturing any of his subjects, they're fine. Of course, they usually do, anyways...

does he let them grow up a bit first, or does he eat them straight after their born?

He lets them grow up a bit. They're usually Servines before he eats them - more filling.
