Life is not easy for a false angel. Have to keep the humans in line, have to keep them convinced that the angels will keep them safe, even as these false messiahs slowly expand their total control over the land.
They look pretty convincing until they open their eyes or show their hands. Their hands are clawed, their eyes are dark and yellow, and on top of that, if both of their eyes are open at the same time, their halos shatter and float in little bits over their heads. With one eye open, the halos quiver a little bit as though under heavy tension. But false angels only open their eyes when they're doing something foul and evil.
Such as disposing of those who are not faithful. As shown.
Also, those are not wings. They look like wings, and they're supposed to. But they're gigantic scythes. Angels fly with magic. Duh.

Wow. Pretty spooky pred concept... I have to wonder who these angels serve, if anyone.
One thing... I get that your wanted to make the halo look like it's under tension, but it kinda looks like it got hit by a car or something.

Yeah. It warps a bit when she opens one of her eyes. Open both, and BOOM! Pretty little shards above her head. But it can be put back together.
As for who they serve, THAT'S CLASSIFIED... currently.
