> Continue to Malor

For now, you tell Tassri to hold off on dealing with the dwarf. You want to talk to Marcus first to see what he could potentially do about it.

"Very well. Just let me know if you change your mind." The arachne sighs, obviously a bit disappointed.

Your group makes their way to Malor, though before going back in, you have Tassri release the elf and put her robes back on. She doesn't seem terribly happy about it, but complies and before long, the now very damp elf lays on the ground, still dazed from the spider's magic.

"It shouldn't take her too much longer to recover." Tassri speaks as you dry the girl off and get her clothing back on. "I tried to fog her memory a little, but it will likely take a bit more focused effort to make it stick." She shrugs at you. "I doubt she's going to look at me too pleasantly though. And she's likely going to want to know where her boyfriend went." It's certainly going to be a tricky situation if she manages to remember. For now though, you let Garrett carry her on his back as you enter town.

As you pass by the gates, your party gets a few strange looks due to your newest addition. The guardsmen stare at the unusual woman, though you're not sure if they're interested or a bit afraid. Arachne are rather intimidating, afterall. However, Tassri does not appear to be enjoying all this attention she's getting from the human guards, taking on a bit more frustrated expression.

Your first stop is the barracks to speak with Marcus. You have your group go inside, keeping Tassri near you to make sure she doesn't cause any trouble. The captain notices you, but he pays much stronger attention when he sees the spider alongside you.

"Floria? This is..?" He eyes you questioningly and you nod, explaining that you recovered the elf girl and also convinced the arachne to leave the mines. "I see but... I get the feeling she isn't here to turn herself in."

"What? Is this-" Tassri shoots you a bit of an angry look. You quickly stop her from getting the wrong idea, explaining to Marcus that she'll be travelling with you for now.

"...Are you sure this is a good idea, Floria?" He looks and notices the dazed elf on Garrett's back. "Based on what I see, it looks like your vision was correct. That means that this... woman killed the other one who went into the mines, correct?" You hesitantly nod, but explain that Tassri lived in the caverns for a long time, and was simply defending her home. Marcus stays silent for a moment, looking at the arachne. "Yet again, you bring something dangerous into my town..." Finally, he sighs. "Fine. But listen here. If I recieve word that she's been causing trouble, then the both of you are going into a cell." You frown at that, but he shakes his head. "Sorry Floria. It's my responsibility to make sure that this town stays safe. You've brought someone who is known to have killed others for questionable motives. Just make sure she doesn't cause any trouble."

You nod to him. "Good. Now then, the elf?" You explain that she's dazed, but okay. "And how did that happen?" You decide it best not to hide anything from him, and admit that Tassri did it to keep her pacified. "That's... well, I suppose she could have caused trouble for you if she hadn't." He moves over and takes the mumbling girl off of Garrett's back. "I'll watch over her here." Marcus looks over at Tassri. "If she decides to try and get revenge on you while you're still here, I'll keep her restrained, but once you're outside my town, I can't really stop her."

"Hmph." Tassri doesn't seem too pleased by Marcus's commanding nature. "You don't have to bother too much, someone like her isn't much of a threat to me."

"But it would be a threat to the peace here." Marcus doesn't seem too pleased by Tassri either. "I think we can agree that we're probably not going to like each other very much. So let's just not let it become a problem, alright?" You haven't seen Marcus show this much distaste towards someone before. His serious face is a bit intimidating.

"Human, you do not know what you're dealing with." Tassri returns his intimidating expression with one of her own. "But I'm more than willing to let you find out."

Deciding to break the two of them up before Tassri does something stupid, you speak up, explaining to Marcus that Sarum refuses to pay you for clearing the mines of danger. After a few more moments of angry stares, he turns away from Tassri to face you. "...Of course he would." He sighs and shakes his head. He starts to move into a room with beds to set the elf girl down. You follow him and ask if there's anything he can do. "Honestly? Not a lot, I'm afraid." Turning back to you, the captain shakes his head again. "You've lived here in the Alliance, correct? Surely you know how things work around here. Money buys power, and Sarum has plenty of both. He's no Council member, but he still has enough influence to avoid most charges." You give him a frustrated look and ask how exactly you're supposed to get your pay. "The Alliance is corrupt. It's our worst kept secret. I don't really see a way for you to get your gold through official channels." He pauses for a moment before giving you a serious look. "And I wouldn't suggest doing something drastic. Like I said, he has a lot of influence. Making enemies of the wrong people here will get you killed. Or worse. My advice is to just let it go."

You hesitate for a moment, but ask him what he would do if something were to happen to Sarum. Marcus stares at you for a long time with a stern look on his face. "Offically, the mines are under the protection of the Malor guard. Based on what you just said, then officially, if something happened to him, I'd have to consider you a primary suspect. And offically, I highly suggest you not do something stupid." After another long pause, he sighs. "But unofficially... I probably hate that man more than any murderers you bring into my damn town. I'll pretend I never heard anything you just said, but beyond that, I can't cover for you, understand?" You nod and thank him.

"Don't thank me. Just... let's hope this isn't something we'll have to worry about at all." Marcus seems frustrated with you, but at the same time, you feel like he's happy that you managed to bring things to a peaceful conclusion so far. You ask if he's seen Myla or Jates at all. "They were at the inn not too long ago. I was a bit surprised to see that Myla stayed behind like that, though..." He looks over at Elykae. "I guess there were reasons." The deergirl simply nods to confirm. "Well, I doubt they've gone anywhere." After a bit of a pause, you ask if Myla seemed upset at all. "Lately, that seems to be her normal state, but she didn't seem too bad. I think staying with Jates is doing her some good."

"Anyway, is there anything else you need?"

-----

Yup. Marcus and Tassri really don't like each other. Though I mean, you can't really blame him too much. This is literally his job. :V

... Got nothing for Marcus, time to introduce Tassri to Myla.

warbrand4

Posted by warbrand4 8 years ago Report

Ok, well first thing is first. we need to get myla's symptoms cured.

second thing ask Marcus if he has any jobs that need done, as if he has one it would work as a great cover story if we send a spider and deer girl out to deal with a dumb mine owner.

Though I would suggest to Tassri that she finds a way to swindle the mine owner with out harming him, like mess with his mind and get him to hand over the deed to the mine. then later make him vanish.

JiklokEmisaryOfSteel

Posted by JiklokEmisaryOfSteel 8 years ago Report

Well off however when he returns to his senses he may muscle his way back into the mine or hire his own mercenaries to eliminate us. Or worse, ransack malor and take control.

Everything here is wonderful and devious.

Let's do it all!

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

I agree with the first point. Myla is now priority 1.

As for the second part, there were some ruins nearby. We could grab Myla and let Tassri and Elykae do what they want. There's still plenty of time before dark.

JiklokEmisaryOfSteel

Ah the first situation that needs attention is the drider Lass' mood. She will continue to react harshly rather than act and play nice. She's much too defensive right now and it may take time, just address her to stay calm for now mylady.

As for the elfin lass, we done what we could for her. Let her rest and check back later. Has she the desire fire vengeance than we will deal with her accordingly. Detain her and report her to a cell though many in the party may suggest desposing her altogether. I would not do so unless is absolutely necessary. I would not object to her joining but we have an awfully full company and no place to hold them all properly.

Finally to address lady Myla. I fear we do not have much to say other than the truth. With hard negotiations we came to a peaceful, albiet strained agreement. Also... (feeling a tingle approach) no... it's not important... carry on.

May steel line thy path

I want to agree whit warbeand but I don't know about the risks if Tassri would fail. Also as Jiklok said if the dwarf maneges to recover an decide to get revenge would he probably be able to cause a lot of problems.

Deska

Posted by Deska 8 years ago Report

Ok... so let's just drop the whole revenge thing with the greedy dwarf. We promised Tassri a better life in the mines, and getting involved in an influence struggle is a pretty good way to never get that lol.

Guess the next step is to introduce her to Myla and Jates, and decide where we should go. I think we should leave Malor finally. Tassri will be happy for that. Unfortunately, I think we may have to make a real decision about Myla and Elykae. Hopefully Myla atleast gets along with Tassri. I mean, they both are kinda moody... maybe they can bond on that!

I say we don't really take any action on the mine owner sure he's a jerk but I doubt there be anything good that would come of it that wouldn't be nearly immediate while the bad would forever linger over us.

I say also speaking with Myla and explain about Tassie and what happened and how we think she could help Myla though we shouldn't force the decision on her.

and make sure Tassie doesn't cause any trouble around the town.

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

I don't think Myla will take the news of the dwarf not paying us well. She might go right up to the mining camp and get mad at him. With her anger, she might be able to convince him to give us the money.

AnominableBreadman

Posted by AnominableBreadman 8 years ago Report

This may seem out of nowhere, but while we are heading to the Tavern, we should tell Tassri about how proud we are of her so far, with letting the elf go and all, we should also tell her that Marcus has a valid reason to not be so trustful in Tassri, add that Floria did see everything that Tassri did and said to the elf through his own eyes after all. But with them becoming good friends, and with more good things Tassri can do, like helping Myla with her condition, that there is hope that one day Tassri won't think all humans, elfs, and such are so bad.

Then tell her that the first step is being more tolerant to what people say, that includes Myla since she will no doubt be pissed seeing Tassri, for obvuios reasons.

AnominableBreadman

Posted by AnominableBreadman 8 years ago Report

As for the Dwarf, well, unless he decides to cause some trouble to the town or Floria's group first, I wouldn't recommend going after the dwarf unless they kill him. Although, seeing that he's very greedy and owns the very mines that made Malor prosper. The deed to said mine would be of far better use to someone who's interests were for the sake of Malor, Like Marcus.

TotallyRandom

Posted by TotallyRandom 8 years ago Report

Woah, Marcus has some double standards here. When Myla was still a bandit, she could enter the town without a problem. She defintily ate people during this time and bandits aren't known for preying on convicted criminals.

I think we'll leave the dwarf for the weekend cliffhanger. For now we focus on Myla, like the others allready mentioned.

Also burn the inn, just to check if the hamster blindly agrees to everything. xD

JiklokEmisaryOfSteel

Posted by JiklokEmisaryOfSteel 8 years ago Report

Ai, there may be more racial negatives to a drider than I first considered. That or Marcus has a wonderous history we still know nothing of... perhaps... he at once had a brother who was cursed and turned evil, then in his quest to save his brother he made a deal with him and had a certain deer lass released from his brother's grasp. However his brother had already destroyed her psyche with the help of a mysterious cloaked man. Instead of abandoning all hope Marcus instead stayed behind until the day he saves the wolf lass and restores her to her rightful glory as future queen of the savage lands far to the west, no no... the east... and together along with a certain giant man monk's aid with a mysterious unseen goddess they will lead an army so diverse, fierce, and full of good nature that the ancient mysterious figure will be routed. Time will be reversed and Konic shale be saved along with many other needless deaths. Marcus is the hero malor, no... the very land needs, and the one it deserves. Steel clad and iron willed. He is marcus the human. He is. "THAT MAN"

Of course this be only speculation...

Time to check up on Myla

RumiBelly

Posted by RumiBelly 8 years ago Report

Part with Tassri and Elykae. Those two are a strong enough group to make it on their own, and the larger the group the more trouble we'll have. Tell Tassri that she can keep the payment money should anything happen to the bite sized scumbag.

paltiel

Posted by paltiel 8 years ago Report

Crazy idea time.

First off
- Send Elykae and Tassri to off the dwarf. Plausible deniability: It was the damned Grentalians, I tell ya!
- Loot everything: Money, deeds, contracts, and even his desk
- Nom the little blighter, using quickened digestion
- Spend the funds to build a tower on beach-front property. The party could use a home of its own.

Afterwards
- Have Tassri practice mind talking with sea monsters
- Befriended one? Nickname her 'Gamera' ^w^
- Possessing our very own kaiju, ransack all the other countries. Eat your enemies! Monster vore galore!

Please note: Not all of this is serious.

Let's go see Myla and Jates first.

I kinda feel bad that we are pissing Myla off so frequently. I bet she's just there, waiting to see us to make up with us after we argued, and throwing a nope on her might put her on edge again.

Anyways, we should likely warn Jates that Tass doesn't like elves much. So she should try to keep a distance from her.

And after this happens, we tell Myla the situation with the dwarf and ask her what she thinks we should do. If she thinks it's a bad idea, we let Tass and Elykae handle it. Otherwise, BB, Floria and Myla help, too.

YesImCanadian

Posted by YesImCanadian 8 years ago Report

I like this idea. We should ask Tassri to stay back till we ask her to come forward when talking to Myla. If she's in the Inn room, that would be better.

Xinless

Posted by Xinless 8 years ago Report

Hmmm well I don't want to part ways with tassri, this is still a new companion and so far we are just goin against all the things she's suggested. I at least want to get a chance for Floria to talk more with Tassri and make some plans moving ahead I sort of want to know if she has any goals while also impressing on her that we don't want her to be shut away in a cave for what she is..., wanna get her some new clothes :3 . I'm all for getting the dwarf but I wouldn't want to send tassri off by herself that's why I suggested at least Floria go with so we can show tassri can rely on us yeah it dirties our hands a bit but at least it looks better on us being willing to put our hands in when it's needed, don't want tassri to see us as some person who's caught up in everyone else's waves since I doubt she'd want to be around for that.

First though yeah, we might as well go see myla and jates...but we should mention again about Myla's temper in her current state I would say tassri should pacify her so she can take a look at her since seeing how myla has always been the argumentive type so far and don't want to piss off tassri more with this kind of stuff.

Tassri already knows about jates right? If not should mention it given her stance on elves.

And damn was hoping tassri could keep her snack >~<" lol

The-Lonely-Gamefreak

Posted by The-Lonely-Gamefreak 8 years ago Report

Well, that actually went over far better than I expected. We'll deal with the matter of the dwarf and our pay later; first, we need to introduce Myla to the new recruit.

I don't think she'll be as agreeable as Marcus was, to be honest. Still, I say we ask if she is willing to have the arachne try to cure/ alleviate her mind; however, I would say she stays out of the experiments. And if she's unwilling, then we shall comply. We may also want to keep close to Jates while we're at it as well.

davidargall

Posted by davidargall 8 years ago Report

OK, we get Myla healed as much as we can, give her some loving, and plot out what to do about the deadbeat.

ask the captain to warn any future adventurer, or anybody else, that the dwarf is not to be trusted.
Sue? We use spider to identify who to bribe and either win or force the dwarf to shell out more in bribes and bad public relations.
Send off Spider and Deer to deal with it? They head off to foreign lands afterwards and we play innocent and point out we were clearly in town when it happened. We don't get money this way , but our party problems are solved.
Elaborate? We go back to mines to demand money. If told no, announce to crew that monster is still in the mine. Also warn all that dwarf is a deadbeat, and anyone wanting a reward from him had better collect in advance. Party & Spider return to mine, using rear entrance. Those who come down are taken prisoner At times, we offer to "clean out" the mine for 4000 gold, in advance. If he gives in, we leave mine and head off to get Myla cured.
This plan needs Myla's co-operation. Point out to her that we need the money to get her cured. She only has to tolerate the deer for a little while. This is the best way to help her, please...

YesImCanadian

Depending on (if Myla will accept Tassri's air) how long the process takes, we might be able to fly to Errada and do business there. We could ask Garrett to watch Myla, Jates and them, while Floria takes Bluebell.

Things we could do:
1) Deliver letter
2) Ask Gina about the mystery potions we have
3) Get Myla's coat fix and upgraded
